Yes a small percentage of Texans own assault rifles, but it doesn’t matter. The narrative among Republicans is that liberals may talk about practical reforms to gun laws, but their real goal is to take your guns away. The way Beto said it played right into the narrative. Doesn’t matter that he said AR15, all they heard was I’m coming for YOUR guns. He talked about taking personal property, and he said it with such anger. Uvalde doesn’t change that. He could win a local seat in the right district, but he’s done as far as any statewide office. The mind hungers for that on which it feeds. |

This past week I had an opportunity to hold an AR-15. I was just moving it from the Sherriff's vehicle to the house but I had never been up close to one before. At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent. |
