I just vote straight Republican every time except in 2008 I voted for Obama because I could not stand John McCain. I like Sarah Palin though, but she wasn't going to be president. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

SOOPOO Member since: Feb 19, 2014 Threads: 23 Posts: 4720 | For State Assembly or State Senate I’ve only voted for a few Democrats, and it’s specifically because I’ve met them and thought highly of them. Or they were specifically ‘pro anesthesia safety’ legislation that I lobbied for. I am now acutely aware that there is no Republican I can elect who will have more power than a firefly. In NYS, the controlling party does not even ALLOW the minority party to sponsor a bill. The ‘real’ sponsor has to get someone from the majority party to put their name on it. After groveling of course. And you can only imagine what kind of softball bills the Republicans are allowed to bring up…. ‘The No nuclear warheads within 50 feet of a school bill’. The ‘Allow yogurt to be sold at rest stops on the Thruway’ bill. NY is what’s known as the ‘three men in a room’ state. Governor (who’s actually a woman), State Assembly leader, and Senate majority leader. They decide what bills pass, with some tiny input from the other 100+ elected officials. |
