Back to the election. Does anyone think the Dems will make a montage of JD Vance’s vicious attacks on Trump from a few year’s back? I’d be playing it 24/7 if I was the Dems.

They definitely should although I think it will have little to no effect on the outcome. I believe that 99% of the people that will actually vote have already made up their minds and won't be changing.

Amazingly, it’s probably quite a bit lower than 99%. And that’s why they’ll be spending hundreds of millions of dollars on ads. And remember, it’s not just wanting someone to vote for one candidate over another; it’s getting the people who prefer your candidate to actually show up at the ballot box.

No investigation. What I want is the people I entrust my kids with for 30 hours a week to inform me of any serious problems they are having. I consider a 14 year old not knowing what their gender is a serious problem. Kid talks about shooting people? Let me know! Kid is caught with cocaine? Let me know! Kid wants to deny he is a boy? Inform me!
You think it’s BS when a boy asks to be called ‘she’. I think it’s a sign of a medical problem. Called gender dysphoria.

So you tell the kid's parents he wants the opposite pronoun, and he goes home to his mom, Majorie Taylor Greene...so now he has to hang himself. Did you hear her speech at the convention?

I did not hear her speech. Luckily. But unless she is removed from custody of her child for some reason by a court of law, then yes, she should be informed of her child’s illness.

What I'm getting at, is someone who does that has more than a responsibility to just tell the parents. For one thing, they should get a counselor to talk to the kid to see how things are at home. Does the kid already know his parents aren't going to take it well. Is that the reason he hasn't told them?

30 years ago, parents probably wanted to know their kid was hiding being gay. And we don't know that it is always a disorder to be different. Some people lose their mind because they're showing normal signs of age. Others can handle some things many people would have a serious problem with.

As the parent of the minor child, I want to be the one to get my child counseling if needed. You make good points. But I don’t think they override the rights of a parent to care for their minor child. I think my slant on it is what a large majority of adults (voters!) would agree with.

I may have relayed this story before. In NY, as a doctor, I was forbidden from telling a parent that their minor child was pregnant without the child’s permission. It was a delicate dance to cancel the case without telling the parent why. It’s years ago, so memory is foggy, but I think all the kids told their parents.

What is this "illness" which you are "diagnosing" for us, doctor?

Surely you cannot be allowing partisan politics to influence your medical opinion.

Why are the landlords getting a tax break ??????.
this is subsidized housing for low income people, as far as I know there is no other help from the gov. for landlords except to house low income [a substantial part of the rent is paid too] ... 'Section 8' stuff

You maybe are too young and missed the whole thing about "housing projects" which is what we had before this. Soviet-style apt buildings were built to provide housing for poor people [I'd have to look it up to get the dates for when they were doing this, but we all saw them back then]. Great Society program I think. Anyway, this was soon deemed a disaster, and we got Section 8 for landlords now instead. It's an invisible thing costing untold billions

It doesn’t matter how many undecided voters there are in solid red or blue states. The election will be decided by a handful of uninformed voters in three states. I can’t begin to guess what sways them.
