I am reminded of all of the deaths caused by religious wars: Catholic v. Protestant in England long ago; Ireland a few decades ago; the Crusades.

The linking of religion to politics helped keep Europe in the Dark Ages for far too long; it was the ascent of science and humanism which helped shed the cloak of stupidity.

I'd proffer the Japanese and Chinese for having done a better job of it.

Imagine how much better the world would be if we all practiced zen?

Centuries ago, China gave the world paper, the magnetic compass, gunpowder and printing. A few other things over the millennia as well, but that's about it. Japan closed their society for centuries and never advanced scientifically until the West forced them.

No disrespect to other cultures, but there is a reason why it's called "Western Civilization".

Hate to break it to you, but the Chinese killed tens of millions of their own people under atheism. Judaism gave us the rules for a civilized society, Christianity finished them. The better parts of the world still follow that system. I get that you are a theophobic bigot, but look at reality.

The west led the world in many things, no question, but progress typically came in spite of, not because of Christianity.

About the only thing of value Christianity contributed was in the area of cathedral building.
