It's always fair to ask a lot of a country you're giving billions of dollars to no matter what other countries around them do.. I expect as much of Israel as I do of Ukraine as far as dealing with their adversary. Could Ukraine kill more Russian troops by being more brutal. Sure, I think so. The Russians are definitely better than Hamas, but they're doing multi-tons of indiscriminate bombing that is just as much a war crime. I'm going to have trouble supporting Ukraine if they start doing the same. And I'm having trouble with what Israel justifies. Only real derangment going on is people who still believe in Trump |

This is an Israel thread. Start a muslim country thread if you want and I may rant on that. I actually find it shocking that Israel won't allow interfaith marriages. WTF I thought they were more progressive then that One of the many reasons I'm not a zionist. Religion is way more important then freedom Both Israel and Muslim countries still living in the dark ages. Sucks Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

It harkens back to the days of the Ottoman Empire, as well as the Israeli opinion that non_Jewish foreigners pose an existential threat to the Jewish people. As an American, we might find this completely outrageous, especially in a modern society and societies where differing people live together in peace (or at least try to). But, Israel gets to make Israeli law free of American interference, just like Americans get to make American law, free of Israeli interference. This kind of restriction, however, is the reason why the US should never allow religion to dictate law. |

In my opinion Ukraine has more of a right to be brutal because their country is being invaded by a traditional Army for no reason other than a land grab. And, whenever a country is being occupied, there is a right to defend by almost any mean. Israel has a right to be brutal when Hamas is over their border, but when they are doing operations in Gaza, they should be somewhat restrained. That being said, when Hamas mixes in with civilians, there is only so much you can do. At least with Ukraine/Russia it is traditional armies. |

I would not say Israel is living in the dark ages, it is a super progressive country on many fronts. I would live in Israel over any country in the middle east. |

SOOPOO Member since: Feb 19, 2014 Threads: 24 Posts: 4915 | Israel, the USA, and Turkey are bombing Syria in the wake of the overthrow of Assad. One article matter of factly mentioned that Israel eliminated the entire Syrian navy. The USA will justify our attacks as ‘going after known terrorists’ or something to that effect. Why didn’t we go after the same ‘known terrorists’ while Assad was in power? Hopefully the new ruling entity in Syria will be better for the Syrian people. I’m not optimistic. |

Because, duh, with Assad gone that means Russia is gone. It means Syria is on its own, Russia does not have money or the manpower right now to maintain a presence there. Why do you think when Assad vacated the country he went directly to Russia. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I had heard that also, but I haven't seen any reporting that the U.S. is actually participating. I don't doubt that they are, but usually we would get some military confirmation after an engagement. There is plenty of stories and video of Israel bombing the navy and air force bases in Syria. At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent. |
