Sounds like Trump is on the cusp of authorizing attacks on Iran and is denying meetings with envoys willing to come to the Whitehouse.

This is not boding well for people who think we should stay out. For all of Trump's bluster he seems terrified to say no to Israel or even be slightly critical. Strange position for him, because he is the same way towards Russia (who is against U.S. intervention in Iran.)

I don't think it s a case of saying no to Israel, every president since Busch has discussed dismantling Iran's nuclear capabilities. Israel has went in and done all the dirty work, all that is left for the U.S. is to send in the GBU57A.

Iran has a bunch of shorter-range missiles. US has a lot of base assets within range. So, Trump possibly has to deal with losing US troops if Iran release a monster barrage after he bombs that mountain.

Just the fact that they try to run everything through proxies means they at least pay a lot of attention to managing how they make themselves vulnerable. I guess, no self-respecting evil regime would last very long otherwise. If you don't have ultimate power, you have to balance it with more cleverness to survive.

The US had no coalition of the willing during that time, either.

Absolutely, if they attack any U.S. base or military other than planes flying over Iran, I would expect a HUGE response.

Trump faces isolationist dissension within the MAGA ranks, including congress.

Wouldn't congress need to bleas / approve such a declaration of war?

Tough to do unless all republicans are on board, and not all are.

No, the President can take unilateral action but it must be presented to the House and Senate within 60 days of the start. BTW, it will not be declared a war. We have not declared war since WWII. Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan were not "wars".

Only Congress gets to declare war. But that hasn't stopped Presidents from ordering US forces under his command to engage in combat on foreign soil in the past.

Would love to see the MAGA sh!t fight on this one...

Declaring war in this day and age causes too many problems. If we declared war on Iran then neutral nations would have huge problems dealing with us.

This is quite the interview/debate. Tucker grills info Cruz about general Israel support as well as plans for Iran.

Meanwhile even Trump seems to being turning on Tucker.

Gotta wonder if once again our leader will attempt to justify attacking an Arab nation falsely claiming it was an existential threat due to having / almost having weapons of mass destruction.

Gee, Saddam Hussein comes to mind, with the oh so embarrassing, wholly unsupported claimed justification for attacking being such a claim.

tick...tick...tick...the world teeters on the edge.
