I do not take a candidate’s abortion stance into account when I vote. It is not the center of my life like it is yours. I just find the arguments of most pro abortion candidates kind of disturbing. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

Well this is obviously fake news. Tanko has assured me that the Republican Party is NOT anti-abortion! “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

These laws expand standing to everyone in the state, which of course turns the whole concept of standing on its head. Civil suits from citizens is just a novel enforcement mechanism designed to side step the blatant violation of the constitution. The purpose of these laws is to intimidate people seeking abortion out of state by fear of a lawsuit from any unconnected Texan. Texas passed a state law using the same enforcement mechanism to effectively ban abortion before Roe was repealed. It was never tested in court and soon became irrelevant. I would hope that it would not hold up if challenged in federal court but these days, I can’t be sure. The mind hungers for that on which it feeds. |

(1) Didn't Tanko say or at least imply this wasn't going to happen? (2) Someone, and by "someone" I mean blue state Governors and AGs, needs to tell Abbott and Paxton to frigg off. |

missedhervee Member since: Apr 23, 2021 Threads: 139 Posts: 4361 | So now Texas wants to charge and prosecute doctors who live and practice in states other than Texas who perform abortions on Texans who travel out of Texas to seek their services? Bwa ha ha ha Just like the fetus, this play is dead on arrival. |

With a MAGA 5th Circuit, and an ultra-MAGA SCOTUS, all bets are off on this one. |

No. I posted "Leave it up to the People" and "The only males worrying about abortion rights are the wusses who don't have a shot at getting laid anyway." |
