No Afghans either. Saudi Arabia: 15 hijackers were Saudi nationals. United Arab Emirates: 2 hijackers were from the UAE. Egypt: 1 hijacker, Mohamed Atta (the tactical ringleader), was Egyptian. Lebanon: 1 hijacker, Ziad Jarrah (pilot of Flight 93), was Lebanese. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

If we have reliable intel that these boats are loaded with illegal drugs, then we have reliable intel on their port of potential entry into the US. It doesn’t seem to far a stretch to think we can get a legal search warrant, wait until the vessel is in US waters, and the effect a legal search and arrest those on board. You give those on board a reasonable opportunity to surrender. Only if they refuse do you use force as needed. The immediate use of force should be used if there is an IMMINENT threat. If the intel revealed an ICBM is housed on the boat, that’s one thing. If it’s loaded with fentanyl and a few guns, that doesn’t qualify. Because someone years back called it a ‘war on drugs’ doesn’t mean it’s a real war. |

The Coast Guard doesn't need a warrant to interdict ships in US waters, believe it or not. There is actual SCOTUS case law on this. Furthermore, the US Coast Guard has conducted 212 drug interdictions on the high seas since 2024, most in international waters. And the vast majority without lethal force. The kicker? 1 in 4 boats searched wasn't carrying drugs. There is no military, national security or law enforcement reason for these strikes. At least, none that has been made to Congress or the America people. And I say this as person who hates with a passion drug dealers. |
