Here's what you do.

You buy the ring in installments. But you put all the paperwork in the other person's name. If the relationship falls through, you stop paying, and they go looking for the other person.

The case in question, sounds like she completely used him. I think the court was generally right, you can't really get back gifts (including cash for medical procedures,) but I get the right, especially if the wedding is cancelled.

This whole case sounds like a HUGE mess. 😵‍💫😲

Wow, your post sounded 100 percent realistic! 😲 Reminds me of a Poster on Actress Tisha Campbell's video where she admitted she tricked a Security Guard into letting her into the "My Wife And Kids," Audition. She claimed that she was on the list and the Security Guard told her he couldn't find her name on the list. She CRIED and claimed she was going to tell off her Agent for forgetting to add her to the list. The Security Guard was like,"You know what, Miss Campbell, you can go right on in..She dramatically thanked him and went in and won the Audition for Jay Kyle, the Matriarch of the Kyle Family.

A Poster responded,"Tisha Campbell sends the Security Guard a fruit basket on his birthday every year as a thanks for letting her into the My Wife And Kids Audition. I COMPLETELY made that last sentence up off the top of my head." His post sounded REALLY realistic and a LOT of people thought it was a TRUE FACT. 💡

You are assuming that you can put the ring in the other persons name. You can only do that with their permission and many times one person will have poor credit and not be capable of financing it.

Hey, illegal aliens are purported to get all kinds of things without citizenship, so I should be able to come up with something.

I already came up with an idea. I work on creating some official looking government document, print it out. Dress in women's clothing. Keep going from dealer to dealer or loan officers, until I convince one of them that even though they have my real ID, I have an official government form that allows me to use my new identity as a woman on the loan form while I fully transition. Maybe make a nice downpayment to help things along.

Based on my viewing of "Catch Me If you can", you can fool someone eventually if you're bold enough and stay in character.

Too much work though.

When I was praceticing law and trying divorce cases it seemed pretty clear that the ring went back to the man if the woman broke off the engagement but she got to keep it if he broke it off.

The Court ruled yesterday that he gets his $70,000 engagement ring back since he was the buyer and the wedding/marriage didn't happen. 💡 IIRC, The Court said that if the ring was a gift like a birthday, Valentine's Day, or Christmas gift, she would get to keep the ring. But an engagement ring is a promissory thing for a marriage and if the engagement is called off, that means no marriage and he gets his $70,000 engagement ring back. 💡 A Poster on the video said if she were in the Woman's position, she would have married the man and then get an immediate annulment and get to keep the ring, but in reality an immediate annulment could mean he STILL gets his engagement ring back. I heard somewhere that a couple JUST got married and after leaving the church they both claimed they didn't want to be married to each other anymore, OUCH! ☢️😵‍💫 I am sure in a "We already don't want to be married to each other anymore the engagement AND the wedding ring goes to the buyer of both rings. 💡
