I'm sure you know that the FBI director is REQUIRED to use government aircraft for all travel, including personal trips.

When Travis Kelce takes a side trip just to visit his girlfriend for a couple hours, he's not using 60 million government plane. I expect Patel to use commonsense in his choices. He only has to pay the price of a commercial ticket. Yeah, I excuse the Presidents generally for the same behavior. But we can vote them out.

I hate the waste too. But it’s the cost of doing business. If we are requiring these higher ups to fly in a ludicrously expensive government plane it’s not the person’s fault.

I’ve relayed this story (I think?) here before. I’m in DC. have a short walk from hotel to restaurant. Get to the corner and want to cross the street. No car traffic, but…. cops not allowing anyone to cross. I ask friendly cop what’s happening. He says Obama is going to a restaurant for dinner and street is closed for motorcade. I say at least I’ll get to wave at the president. He tells me maybe. They do 3 such motorcades, 2 of which are ‘dummy’ ones. Well I stand around. Finally a bunch of motorcycles go by. Then some cars. Then the bevy of black sedans. Then presumably the vehicle carrying Barrack and Michelle. Then an ambulance and a few more black SUV’s. Multiply by 3. No way it’s less than $1 million for the Prez to go out to dinner.

This comes up from time to time regarding protection of our elected and appointed officials in government. And it's a BS topic, mostly. Such actions are a necessary and proper charge upon the nation. This si the price we pay for living in a stable government, and nice tings cost money.

As for Keystone Kash, dude was and is tone deaf. Least he can do is reimburse the government for the use of the jet for private travel.

Pop quiz: Did you all know that when the President campaigns for reelection, the campaign has to reimburse the government for costs, according to an FEC formula?

Don't you know that Federal regulations and policy requires that the FBI Director reimburse the government for any travel that is personal in nature?

Yeah. But they pay a tiny fraction of what the actual costs are. Like a coach ticket cost combined with a pet friendly Fairfield Inn hotel.

But I agree with you. In all our problems with elected officials, this is at the bottom of any list.

Republicans in particular want to have perks, then they need to go back to the private sector. Unless they're just pretending to care about wasteful government spending.

I'm on Keystone's side on this one. Mandated government travel is mandated government travel, and that's that. End of discussion. But did he have to fly to his gf for a date night?

Well, as far as I'm concerned just about every previous nominee of Trump who was given the benefit of the doubt over some controversy proved to be a bad to worse choice.

Maybe even some Republicans are not buying what Trumpie is selling them as good for their self-interest.

Quote:
Jeremy Carl, President Donald Trump's nominee for a top job at the State Department, is facing bipartisan pushback from senators of both parties over past racist comments he made and there are growing chances his confirmation could be stalled.

Republican Sen. John Curtis of Utah announced Thursday that he will not support Carl's nomination for the role of assistant secretary of state for international organization after a heated confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee earlier in the day.

During the hearing, senators pressed Carl on past controversial comments about Israel, Jews and the Holocaust

I heard news item that he deleted thousands of twitter comments.

Bondi is out, but who is the sad sack who will try to accelerate fake charges against political enemies that was Trump’s seemingly real dissatisfaction. Who will delay Epstein documents. Who will make all kinds of priorities and is willing to fail everywhere and look like an idiot.

That’s why it’s going to be such an awful job. Trump wants things done the court is going to keep throwing out and declaring fails on.
