Random Thought of the Day

At the end of a town hall on PBS with Obama, he was answering a question on something he would do differently, and he started talking about many of the issues coming to his desk are only degrees of probability with no clear answers on which will turn out to be right.

Does the following phrase make sense?

"It was there before there was a there there."

Does it read better like this: "It was there before there was a "there" there."?

You just gotta love English :)

I had this pithy and witty post but the internet gremlins have been perform abominable and unspeakable acts on my aging desktop.

Any thing tha t reaches the President has been filtered by lobbyists, analysts, speech writers, etc and often reflects what they think he want to hear. Hirohito was told American sailors would run away. Generals were told the Ardennes were impenetrable to tanks, Generals were told Singapore was immune to a land attack which was utter nonsense to any private but generals are briefed by Majors and only say what the General wants to hear.

Britney Spears is 16 here, had made her album but apparently her "hit me one more time" video had not made her pop sensation yet. She's singing to her recorded soundtrack. Looks like a shopping center. The image gets better in the second and third song. (yes, she was well put together, but not a big fan of her voice).

Out of the studio, she has no voice, Adele
she is not. Brittany, the greatest lip
sync-er of all time.

So what is a politician to do? Throw a tantrum? Show fear? Anger? Laughter is better.

Many philosophical systems which propose a moral/ethical code that's impossible to follow, are the equivalent of saying "This is how humanity works. We're assuming humanity is spherical and exists in a vacuum."
