So NOW you MAGA types care about firearms violence?

WTF do you care? You didn't meaningfully contribute last election. You were a bench warmer. You weren't even the second string WB holding the clipboard on the sidelines.

Hope they enjoy the high consumer prices, declining job market, increasing minority unemployment, high energy prices and roll back of civil rights. May they go down with the ship, without any sympathy from the rest of us.

MAGA has always cared about gun violence. We just don’t think gun grabbing is the way to stop it. We also know that the worst 4-5 blue cities violence is skewing the numbers.

If I wanted to meaningfully contribute by voting for a Presidential or Senatorial candidate, I can’t. I live in NY. Democrat wins no matter what I do. I feel my vote for NOT Harris and NOT Trump is as meaningful as I can get. Just checked. The tech guys would love to have lunch with Trump EVERY DAY. NVIDIA up 28% since Election Day. Meta 37%. MSFT 27%. AAPL 11%. Not sure who actually had lunch but those are the 4 biggest tech companies.

And I’ve been just as fortunate as those tech companies. And I’ll be sharing my ‘fortunateness’. Handyman coming Monday. I have enough stuff I need done might make it to 4 figures. Likely upgrading to a new air conditioning unit too. That’s $$$$. Wife is due a new (I think she is going to get a ‘pre owned’ one) Corvette. I’m helping the economy! That’s $$$$$. New golf clubs… $$$$. All thanks to the massive upsurge in the stock market.

About firearm violence? I just want our present laws enforced, and strengthened. Use a firearm in the commission of a crime? Life imprisonment. No ifs ands or buts. Use it and kill a peace officer? Death penalty? Same for political assassination like the targeted murders in Minnesota. Or even the attempted murder of Trump or Scalise.

Let’s talk Memphis. Do you really believe the out of control inner city Black on Black crime is tied to Tennessee being a vastly Republican State ( except Memphis!)? Same question for Houston. You think it’s Republican policies that put those criminals back on the streets?

In part, yes. And here's why. Most, if not all states have "home rule laws" that state that cities can pass laws or ordinances, but that particular state has the power to overrule that ordinance or in some cases specified in law to prevent the ordinance from being passed in the first place. So Memphis, nor NYC, or Buffalo or St Louis or Houston or New Orleans or wherever can't pass their own gun laws, or their own mandatory minimum sentences. So, yes, it is STATE court judges in cases prosecuted by STATE prosecutors applying STATE law.. So, to answer your question, it IS Republican policies putting those criminals back on the streets.

I also point out, again, that here in deep Blue MA, we have one of the safest states in the country, with some of the safest cities and towns in the country. What are we doing that the rest of the country isn't?

And good for you. Spend your after tax dollars in any legal way you want. That's what America is. But I point out the irony of a man with enough dough to buy a Corvette, upgrade his central AC and other spending also bitches about low wage workers getting a raise.

Democrats want to, by and large, enforce and strengthen our gun laws. So why don't you vote Democrat? You think Republicans want to strengthen gun laws? I point out that there has been a trend since the Heller decision in 2005 to loosen firearms laws, either by legislation or via court challenge. And ALL of those legislative actions and ALL of those court challenges have come from the right. There is now a court challenge in front of SCOTUS by NH challenging MA's gun laws regarding out of state permit holders. You say you want present laws enforced, and strengthened, but you actively work against elected officials who want to do so. You are willing to accept more firearms crimes because you want politicians who will help you afford a new Corvette. That's the trade off you've made. Have the day you voted for.

As an aside, I don't know if I like the newer Corvette's styling, but I don't think I dislike it. Maybe it will grow on me...

Not here in MA. What are we doing that the other states aren't? Why are we so safe and most of the rest of country isn't?

None of this has anything to do with basic police work. Keeping neighborhoods safe. I am pretty sure it is already illegal to shoot people in the cities you mentioned. I also figure some form of carry permit is needed (as in most states except a couple) as well. Chicago has very strict gun laws in a blue state and legendary violence problems.

Blaming gun laws is saying your dog ate your homework.

States looser firearms laws have higher levels of firearms crimes. Prove me wrong.
