She bought it. It is a ‘only 1000 made’ 2024 Stingray in ‘cacti green’. She’s a bunch younger than me, and looks WAY younger. I’m sure I get the looks like I must have a really big……. wallet……. She is a ‘car person’; I am not. She had corvettes in the past. As I’ve said, I’m happy with my Tiguan. |

There is a female surgeon at the hospital who always drives a late model corvette. Another female surgeon drives a Porsche. Too bad both are married. The other doctors all drive the usual suspects: Beamers, Mercedes, SUVs and Audis. |

It’s a ‘me’ thing. I like having a newer car just for dependability. But never feel the need for ‘sporty’ or ‘luxury’. Two houses down neighbor has a Lotus. I think he drives it a few times a year. What’s the point? |

Ah, but there's a big "Oops" there: I read that if the tariffs are ruled unconstitutional, as being in excess of the oaf's power to order, then ALL monies collected need to be returned. Returned to whom, exactly: the importers who presumably wrote the checks to the government or to the actual payors, the consumers? Should be "interesting." |

The SC seem inclined to permit the tariffs partly because of the mess that refunding them would be. Wel;, I assert that should not be part of the consideration. If it's a mess, it's a mess of trump's making and his problem. If the bottom falls out of his strategy, then it's his problem that he built the strategy without foundations. Tough on him. I reckon that only the actual paying importers get the refunds and it's up to them if or how they distribute such a windfall. After all, it was their problem how to raise the funds and some 'ate the charges.' I suspect the SC will well fall short of demanding a refund, let alone ruling the tariffs unconstitutional. But if they do, the markets will go crazy. Will the SC abdicate its responsibilities? Well, on recent form... |

Which is why the Dems want Trump to lose. Party before Nation. It depends upon how much of its authority to impose tariffs, Congress has delegated away. The Tariff Act of 1974 grants the President the power to impose tariffs in response to unfair trade practices by other nations. The Tariff Act of 1962 allows the President to impose tariffs where goods are imported to the US in such quantities or under such circumstances as to threaten or impair the national security. There's also Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977, which grants the President broad power to regulate international commerce during a declared national emergency. |
