Apparently he was arrested for providing classified information to Epstein while in an envoy position. While not sex related, he appears to have been very interested in providing him data Epstein could use for investing, and one has to wonder why.

IANAL, and you are……. But I think that during the majority of the time these crimes against children happened there WAS a statute of limitations. 10 years? But could be extended to start on the 18th birthday of the victim?

I have internal conflict about the concept of ‘statute of limitations’. I want all serious crimes prosecuted regardless of when the evidence becomes available. But I don’t want someone’s character assassinated 30 years after an alleged ‘he said/ she said’ incident. (Gorsuch).

Just watched (fiction) Lincoln Lawyer. He was accused of murder, and might have been able to get off on a legal technicality. But he felt that would still leave his reputation in tatters, so he worked to prove he was innocent, not just ‘not guilty’.

No, I also just watched that with wife, and he got the charges dismissed, there was no ruling, basically prosecuted just dropped the charges based on updated evidence. It's debatable if this looks better for your public image over a not guilty. Personally I would have taken the path of least resistance with a guarantee of freedom, but I guess if you have to worry about public image and political reputation it may change things...

You missed his demand. He demanded the weasley prosecutor make a statement of innocence, and a public apology as well. Absolutely not a ‘just drop the charges’ type deal. And he made the prosecutor who hated him do it herself, not anyone else from the DA’s office.

But in real life no one risks a life sentence if offered a not guilty verdict. It wouldn’t have been a guilty plea on a lesser charge.

It's pretty clear that Trump is corrupt, and his admin is altering what is released. I'm sure the DOJ will say they are removing "confirmed false" allegations...
