Here's the problem with the current two party system: to my mind neither side is moderate enough.

Progressive idiocy vs. mean-spirited conservatism.

Where is there a "happy medium?"

Bingo. MAGA on one side and The Squad on the other. What’s a voter to do?

This goes above Geno’s pay grade. He just doesn’t understand the multi-factorial approach in voting. When I vote for myself for President, it doesn’t mean I expect to win. Sometimes I choose the ‘lesser of two evils’ approach.

Come to think of it, I’ve donated to an anesthesiologist who is so far right of me it’s hard for me to support a large swath of his policies. But I’ve met him, he’s REALLY bright, and I feel it is important for there to be some doctors in Congress to counteract the overall ‘lawyer bias’ in politics. Plus I like seeing him always referred to as ‘Congress’s only anesthesiologist.’ He’s from Maryland so I can’t actually vote for him.

As to MrV’s comment about ‘loving’ a politician then changing your mind, I did the opposite with Fetterman. I was a big anti, but now like him more than any Democrat I can think of!

You couldn't find a doctor to support and (possibly) vote for who's more to your liking?

For the life of me, I cannot see donating any money to a politician whose policies and voting record I disagree with, no matter how bright he or she is. I vote for an elected official who will mostly vote the way I want them to vote or mostly support the policies I want them to support. To vote otherwise is just stupid.

And I am completely okay with NOT being in the "stupid" pay grade with SooPoo.

You can feel that way. I once also donated to a liberal Democrat who I agreed with almost nothing on! (She was daughter of a close friend).
You can’t understand why an anesthesiologist would want another anesthesiologist in Congress even if many of his political views are different? Are you being obtuse on purpose?

Buddy Carter is a Congressman from Georgia. He’s a Republican. He’s a pharmacist. You don’t see his value on certain drug/pharmacy related issues even though his politics are likely 180 degrees from yours?

I see his value as a subject matter expert and a voice that is different perhaps from others. But, unless he aligns more or less with my voting preferences he will never ever get my support. I'm not so single or simple minded as you are.

Only person I know is Sean Spicer (former Trump 1st press secretary)

Quote:
"What's remarkable is everyone's saying he's racking up trade deals," he said. All he wants is the headline. He's a day trader, so he's telling people and

networks, everyone, 'We got deals! This is the next deal!' There's nothing. There's nothing!"

"There's no paperwork," he exclaimed. "There's no paper on a single deal!"

DAN TURRENTINE: One - let's go back to what you've said now since Trump started all of this, which is: the big bargain, the big enchilada out there is China. Well, the linchpin-
MARK: I prefer you not say enchilada, I prefer you say egg roll.

DAN TURRENTINE: Okay, the big egg roll is China.

Well, the two biggest players in the neighborhood are India and Japan. So one, if the long game is China, you're doing a great job of pushing them toward the Chinese.

I just laugh at this. Two, there was a statement Trump made - I think it was in regards to Japan - when they were talking about domestic investment in the United States, in which he kind of said to the reporter: "Well, there is nothing in writing. They're gonna do whatever I say."

Which was comical, right? Just utterly absurd. It was one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever heard. He has no power to direct private enterprise in Japan. He has no power to direct the sovereign funds.

But it's indicative of how he thinks. So, to me, and I'm being serious here, there are no trade deals. What's remarkable is everyone's saying he's racking up trade deals because-

And I say this again. All he wants is the headline. He's a day trader, so he's telling people and networks, everyone, "We got deals! This is the next deal!" There's nothing. There's nothing!

MARK HALPERIN: Well, not yet...

DAN TURRENTINE: Hold on a second - the headlines are, we talk about a liberal media… this is the conservative fog machine, like a PhD class. Have a presser. All these countries have mastered: kiss his butt, say in public, "God bless Donald Trump." In private, it's like, whatever.

MARK HALPERIN: But it's too soon to say - you're right, it's too soon to say they're great, but it's too soon to say it's gonna fail.

DAN TURRENTINE: Mark, there's no paperwork. There's no deal. There's no deal.

SEAN SPICER: Well, there is - look, Commerce does put the tariffs rate schedule out, so the--

DAN TURRENTINE: Tariffs are different. There's no paper on a single deal!

SEAN SPICER: But the tariff schedule matters. That's what brings in revenue and gives us market access in other countries.

A federal appeals court has ruled that most of President Donald Trump's sweeping global tariffs are unlawful, potentially dealing a significant blow to the president's effort to reshape the country's trade policy unilaterally.

In a 7-4 decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit rejected Trump's authority to carry out most of his tariffs, agreeing with the lower court that Trump's actions were "invalid as contrary to law." However, the court delayed the impact of its decision through mid-October to allow the Trump administration to appeal to the Supreme Court, as the tariffs remain in effect.

I’ll be curious to see how they are ruled lawful, if they are by SCOTUS.

Trumpie court case

Justice Coney Barrett

"Is it your contention that every country needed to be tariffed because of threats to the defense and industrial base? Spain? France? I mean I could see it with some countries,"

Neal Gorsuch

"Could the president impose a 50 percent tariff on gas-powered cars and auto parts to deal with the unusual and extraordinary threat from abroad of climate change"

Americans are paying 30 to 80% of these tariffs. (taxes) One of the lawyers suing.

The Supreme Court will likely rule against Trump. Too bad, because he's stopped wars by using the threat of tariffs as a bargaining chip to stop nations from warring against each other.

Annual inflation rate is 3%. If the American public is paying 30-80% of these tariffs, they're not paying much.

Well, a true dictator can get things done unlike any other. Just has pandora's box written all over it though.

Keeping Trump to legit emergency usage is hard enough.
