Point of clarification, you can become a cop int he US without being a citizen.

That being said, Duffy isn't even trying to hide the GOP racism.

Not in Florida, and only in very few States (like 4 or 5 States.) It is a rarity, not the norm.

I have not heard of citizenship as a requirement. Making citizenship a requirement for things is tricky. You have to be careful how you even ask. Once on an extended job interview I even told them the EEOC would nail them because it said "are you a US citizen" on the application, an EEOC no-no.

Don't see any to hide. OTOH, Democrats are the ones who keep saying non-white, non-Asians are incapable of the most basic things without their help. That is racism.
War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength

The best way to ask is "Are you legally authorized to work in the U.S.?" There are, however, several sensitive positions, both in government and in the private sector, where US citizenship is a requirement by law. For example, several of my pharmacy school students were denied employment as interns at the local VA because they weren't citizens, as there were qualified citizen applicants for the same jobs.
