Cute. I’m not saying the war was good for the US. I’m just saying it’s been far worse for Iran. By any metric you want to use.
Economy. Military. Deaths. Humiliation.
I mean seriously.. they have been shown to be at the military mercy of both the US and Israel. Both can fly over Iranian territory at will. Target ANY place or structure ANYWHERE in Iran.

SO why hasn't Iran been conquered, the mullahs overthrown and the Strait opened to mariners?

It is not our goal, nor in our best interests, to ‘conquer’ Iran. Just need to insure they do not develop a nuclear weapon. There are 100 million Iranians. They will have to find some leaders internally to overthrow their ‘mullahs’, if that’s what their people actually want. Not our job. We did help by eliminating large swath of them.
As far as the straight, as long as Iran can threaten a single tanker with its bomb laden skiffs, it will be hard to insure safe passage. It may take us inflicting more pain on Iran to accomplish that, but for now we are trying ‘diplomacy’.
