I think you are spot on. The Dems are now on easy street for a while. They can claim that America voted for their agenda, while smart people (like you and me?) know that’s not what happened. And since Trump will be the obstructionist in chief during the Dem’s next two years of Congressional dominance they won’t (and likely shouldn’t) take the hit for whatever goes wrong. I may join a ‘prediction market’ website to bet on Dem President.

Rubio is out of favor. JD keeps putting his foot in his mouth. So who's left for GOP in 2028?

For example, I am seeing a lot of people around me proclaim Trump should be impeached (and convicted/removed,) this would be terrible for the Dems. Trump being in power for the next election would be the best gift Trump can give them. Resigning and setting up a pardon deal while backing a clean (Vance) candidate would be work for the Dems (rumours this is being considered, not sure I buy it.)

Trump attempting to run for a third term would be the dream scenerio.

But, yes, Dems are in a good position, and they better not squander it, as they often do. Sure, everything they propose and support will be vetoed, fine, just making an effort shows you have something to say... And, you can talk about all the great policies the GOP made sure was shot down. This is a great time to propose a bunch of veteran stuff, stuff you know they will have to veto, but sounds terrible to.

Another interesting thing looking more at the house side of things now. Is the GOP shot their own foot by their illegal and unethical Gerrymandering last year and this year. We all know the story, not going to rehash the whole thing, but in the applicable states, a lot of the new improper districts ended up blue, so they don't even have a perfect grasp on household voting metrics... It's kind of karma for that whole situation.

Still no updates about Mississippi and Alaska, both retain a blue lead, but only slightly more votes counted since yesterday, so no firm prediction. Not that it mathematically matters at this point, but both switching blue would be huge, but I would be happy with just one. Alaska may be weeks out from an answer, they have a very weird and spread out system for state wide tallies so close elections can take multiple weeks for a final call.

Nothing is left for the GOP
No electoral college path to victory
Texas turned blue
TX is the key
Dems now have California, New York and Texas
That's a massive number of electoral votes from just 3 states
Its gonna take the Republican party decades to extract itself from the Trump cult
Just about every Republican is attached to Trump in some way
Republicans left behind the common sense right wing policies of lower taxes, lower deficit and anti Putin
The Trump cult party support whatever Trump supports regardless

The best gift Trump could give the GOP, is resign, let Vance take over, and retire quietly, staying completely out of public view. Is this something Trump is capable of? Probably not.... Which for a political standpoint is good for the left, but if he truly cares about the GOP, that is what he would do.
