The Wikipedia page shows it was nominated for practically every award there is for movies, but only won a few. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

A Black Helen of Troy was purely to provoke IMO 'Cocaine Bear' reminds me of 'Renfield' with Cage as Dracula ... the movies were so full of gore that it worked as an enjoyable absurdity I'm Still Standing, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah [it's an old guy chant for me] |

Helen of troy was a fictional woman, born of the god Zeus who, in the shape of a swan, impregnated Leda who gave birth to...an egg. From that egg, out came Helen What does a woman born of an egg whose father was the god Zeus who was swan look like? If we have 60 foot cyclops who eats men alive, 7 foot tall giants, witches who turn men into animals and man-eating sea monsters, is a Greek, sea-faring king taking a black wife so provoking? Africa makes up half of the Mediterranean coastline. Why do we think Africans didn't travel to other places and marry foreign men? Also, physical depictions aside, Helen is said to have charis—a divine, magnetic grace gifted by Aphrodite that compelled men to risk everything for her. And that can have zip to do with physical beauty. |

Or Lupita Nyong'o is an award winning actress with charis that no non-racist hetero male would kick out of the bed for eating crackers. |

We can start with more accurate depictions of Jesus. Nothing points to him looking European. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

Of course, he was born to a local in bronze age Palestine, there is zero reason he would be white. He would be brown. But, U.S. art depicts him as a white hippy... |

Helen of Troy is not a historical figure. It is a myth, literally a fiction book from their day. It would be like you getting furious about making a modern fiction a different race. It would literally be the equivalent of losing your mind about a black James Bond or black Harry Potter. Neither are real people, and are contemporary fictional characters. |

But the Christian West depicts him so, not just the US I always thought he would have looked a lot like Menachem Begin I'm Still Standing, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah [it's an old guy chant for me] |
