Just saw Room. Great movie! I cannot fault it in any way. Look for Brie Larson to be a strong competitor for Best Actress.

Description of the movie I have on:

A comet wipes out most of life on Earth, leaving two Valley Girls to fight the evil types who survive.

Believe or not, it probably could be worse than it sounds.

Watched 'the baker' with Damien Lewis. Started strong ended up very very weak. Lewis plays Milo, a hitman trying to retire. The town he escapes to think he's a hitman pretending to be a baker. His past catches up and the finale ends with a good old fencing match for no reason.

Just read a stunningly good review of the
new Star Wars movie. But how could it fail.
A Disney film, written and directed by JJ
Abrams, starring Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill,
Carrie Fisher, among others, with Ford just
about stealing the whole thing when he shows
up looking great and sounding like John Wayne.
The world will eat this up, there are already
two sequels in the works.

There is no such thing as a fail proof movie.

But these reviews are incredibly good. With $100 million of advance sales, it looks like this could be the biggest grossing movie of all time.

Reviews
117 good, 94 bad STAR WARS: EPISODE I - THE PHANTOM MENACE 1999
158 good, 83 bad STAR WARS: EPISODE II - ATTACK OF THE CLONES 2002
222 good, 60 bad STAR WARS: EPISODE III - REVENGE OF THE SITH 2005

155 good, 10 bad STAR WARS: EPISODE VII - THE FORCE AWAKENS 2015

I saw Carrie Fischer awhile ago and she didn't
look like this:

Star Wars is fail-proof, for now.

I mean, if something as crummy as Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the Sith didn't fail, then, for now, nothing SW does can fail (Phantom Menace was as bad, but we had hopes for the sequel prequels, we learned better).

Still, if this movie is unbelievably bad, then the next one, assuming it's as bad, could wind up under $500 million worldwide. That would be a failure for a movie named Star Wars.

I think I'll go see ep 7 either late Saturday or early on Sunday.

Under $500 million worldwide, would probably be catastrophic. But I think they are hoping for a story that builds an audience.

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) $1,027.0 million
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) $649.4 million
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith Fox (2005) $848.8 million

Star Trek (2009) $385.7
Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) $467.4
Star Trek Beyond (2016) $0.00 ?

Star Wars has opened in Europe, Asia, and Australia by now. It has a rating of 9.1 on imdb.com, putting it in the #3 spot of all movies. I've noticed that rating often drop off after the first week.
