What Movies Have You Seen Lately?

You can have drama without good guys on one side and bad guys on the other. Conflict can come from different approaches to an issue, for example. Granted this is hard to do.
There was the United DC-10 that crash-landed in Sioux City, Iowa in 1989. That was a far harder problem, as they had two working engines, out of three, but virtually zero control surfaces. The crew, reinforced by an off-duty pilot, managed to steer the plane using unbalanced thrust, and they could change altitude by increasing and decreasing speed. But they were subject to periodic and unpredictable oscillations, one of which hit right before landing. The plane cartwheeled and caught fire. Despite this, out of 296 people onboard, 185 survived, including the cockpit crew. As an accident has several causes and contributing factors, so does the outcome. One factor in the half-positive outcome was Cockpit Resource Management (CRM), a development borne out of investigations of prior accidents. What bothers me, though, is that air crash investigations typically are not punitive and do not try to apportion blame personally. the idea is to get at the causes, factors, contributing factors, etc. If pilot error is a cause or factor (and it commonly is), the recommendations are usually for training changes. The result of such investigations is to make flying safer, not to second-guess the people involved or to engage in a witch-hunt. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

Everything everyone said is accurate, yet the story itself is so riveting the movie is still worth seeing. I think Eastwood was trying to make some kind of statement on the nature of heroism, but that falls flat IMO. Stay for the last half hour. |

I'm gonna assume it will never make it as an inflight movie even when they land safely. Could be wrong though. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

One UK investigation had to be re-written due to failure to warn an employee of his rights and the employee insisted on a formal statement in the final report that said, he would neither have said anything different nor done anything different, if they read him his "Miranda" rights. |

I wasn't aware this movie starred Jane Levy (age 26), who was also in the movie Evil Dead and the TV series Suburgatory. ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGr21_8vA8A Suburgatory is one of those rare TV series that lasted three years and 55 episodes. Most TV series that are renewed for a third season get renewed for a fourth so that there are enough episodes to make a valuable syndication package. I kind of liked Suburgatory since it had a darkly comic tone that is so rare in television. "Don't Breathe" passed "Evil Dead" domestic box office revenue after only 10 days, so Fede Alvarez is probably going to get the OK to make several more movies. On March 9, 2013, it was announced that Evil Dead will have a sequel, followed by a crossover with the original trilogy. I didn't see Evil Dead so I don't know if Jane Levy's character survived, but I would assume that they would want to keep her on the franchise. |

I still haven't seen this movie, but Netflix released it's own time loop post apocalyptic thriller today called ARQ. I couldn't make it all the way through, as I found it very tiresome. I'll probably go back to it, just to see how it ends. |

Seen Edge of Tomorrow at least 10 times. Tom Cruise at his finest. Best time travel movie I ever saw. It has everything. A great story, great acting, and almost non stop action. It's good because the time travel aspect is so relevant to the story. If it was on right now I'd watch it again, it's that good. I envy you that you haven't seen it yet, it's a real treat. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Some movies are easy to watch over and over, no matter how many times they're on TV, I'll watch it again. EoT is one such movie. And I'll add Watchmen, Mad Max: Fury Road and Shawshank Redemption to that list. |

I watched the end of ARQ, and it does have a plot twist. So I would call it worth watching. But I certainly wouldn't re-watch it. Now I am curious about EoT. Where is it playing? |

I've only ever seen it on HBO when they have one of their free weekends. I can't understand why I would watch Shawshank more than once. When you know how it ends, that's half the movie. It's like watching a who-done- it over and over, you wouldn't. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
