Police are trained to use the 'wheel of force'. Picture a wheel in front of you from which you can select the degree of force suitable for the situation.

Physical presence is most often all that is necessary. Which is why it is so important for an officer to be professional in their appearance. After that, comes verbal command. Beyond that is physical contact, or tasers, pepper spray or expandable baton.

A firearm is used as a last resort. Police officers are also trained not to fire a shot when there are people in the background. They are reminded over an over, that if they miss their target, they could kill an innocent person. There were dozens of people behind that woman.

It is always easy to say what should have been done after when no Congressmen/Senators have been shot. In a situation when our Capitol is being stormed when Congress is in session, you can say the crime is 2nd degree trespass. To me, it is closer to an act of war. We have been bandying about the term sedition. It clearly was that at least. I’m sorry.... if you are armed and a mob is coming at you and refuses instructions to stop, lethal force is acceptable before you have the ability to determine if they were armed. And frankly, you can be killed quite easily by an unarmed mob.

One Goal: Get into office. Get the good healthcare. Get the nice retirement package. My eyes saw pictures, and in some of those pictures, were people with guns. They planted at least one explosive at the RNC. They tried to gas the police.

Even then, your argument is, Well, they ONLY used physical force and large numbers to storm past the police. What do you think we killed one another with before the advent of efficient weapons? Physical force. Large numbers.
