It's not that they're dumb, it's that they live in holy terror of being Politically Incorrect. It rules their lives. They fear they will be ostracized if they're seen as anything but super tolerant. And of course those doing the robbing take advantage of the tolerant, they feed on it. If you give money to a street person in San Francisco and other street people see you do it, they will descend on you like a swarm of locusts.

I visited San Francisco in the late 80's. I thought it had way too many homeless folks not being taken care of then. When I visited again a couple of years ago, it was much worse. Poop on the streets all over the place and much more homelessness.

The city looks beautiful from the outside. Inside? Not so much. If nothing changes, I won't go back. Too sad to see.

I am all for fully prosecuting anyone who steals. Including her.

The ex-boyfriend? I wouldn't take his word for gospel. Exes aren't always kind to the ex.

Of course, if the can corroborate that part, charger her with it, too.

I have no problem with all involved with the crimes committed on 1/6 being prosecuted. I do have some problems with how they are being treated compared to other accused folks and with the mass of arrest of people who did not do anything other than walk in. Still, prosecute the ones who actually did things beyond walking in.

That took me all of twenty seconds or less...

The point is that, if someone is going to cite an article, then that person should provide a link. It's just common g**d**n courtesy. lol

Tolerating burglaries? Sounds like a slippery slope to me.

Don’t want to start acting like the righties:

Haha!!! They should make, "Where's Trumpie," like a, "Where's Waldo?" but using that guy.

I found the actual Chronicle article. The focus is mainly on people breaking into garages to steal bicycles and E-Bikes, but the question itself is being asked without hyperbole:

San Francisco has descended into a place with rampant theft and homelessness. That doesn't take away from the beauty of the place overall; just my desire to go back there. We had a fantastic tour there in a Mini Cooper, which was a lot of fun. The more leftist policies allow crime to run rampant and do little to keep the place safe and clean, the less desire I have to go to a particular city. They'll come around at some point and decide crime is a bad thing and then start cleaning up the place and making it great to visit again.

I want to go back...just not right now.

Traveling all over the country seeing everything for myself
I've seen more homelessness in other cities
I observed no crime issues
No doubt it exists
But
I felt fine walking all over the city unarmed
Never scared
Felt safe
I know where not to walk such as
SE DC would be a scary place to walk.
Where I walked in Frisco, and I do a lot of walking, felt safe
