Does anyone know why your life revolves around "conservatives" and "the Republicans?" If either did not exist you would have nothing in your life. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

Federal Student loans are very different than private lending (no statute of limitations, cannot be discharged in bankruptcy, a lot of enhanced collection mechanisms, etc....) The only way to get rid of Federal Student Loans is to pay them or have they discharged by the Federal Gov. Good people cannot always pay, and often have few options to get out of them. This is a positive step in the right direction to make education obtainable. |

Unemployment there is only 2.7%, and despite no state income tax, Florida once again has a record budget surplus, adding another $8 billion to their $20 billion in reserves. In contrast, despite a high state income tax and one million fewer people than Florida, NYS is $165 billion in debt, with an annual budget deficit that is expected to add another $6 billion to the debt in a few years. Unfortunately for Florida, so many hundreds of thousands of democrats have fled to that state, from the economic disaster they caused in the northeast, that DeSantis is likely going to lose in November. Rubio as well. |

Oh, my, they have to actually pay off their student loans? Biden is just giving a handout to top income earners, something people like you screamed that Trump did when he really raised taxes on the rich. If we want to make education "obtainable" we need to just limit student loans. I would give ZERO aid for the first year of college. You want to go, you pay up. Then take what aid we are giving in year 1 and give it to people who actually make it to their second year and after. This idea that college should be "free" is bizarre and dangerous. Make it "free" and college becomes useless. Too many kids are going to college in the first place. Need to get the number going cut by about 40%. That 40% do not belong there but get encouraged to go by guidance counselors who get paid to just tell kids who do not know what they want to do to go to college. It is a sickly system that needs to change. Fortunately some kids are seeing it for what it is and not buying in. These kids are more male than female and more white than minority. So eventually expect to see student loan debt sold as a "women's issue." War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

Not at all. It is going to make education less affordable. Biden didn't give this $300,000,000 in loan forgiveness to help the students. He did it to pay back Education for the hundreds of millions in donations they've given him and the democrat party over the years.. Future students and their cash strapped parents are going to pay higher tuitions as a result. Education gave Biden $64 million in 2020. Other democrats received tens of millions more. Every dollar in government student aid, raises the cost of tuition 65 cents on the dollar. 'The report’s findings show that of all three programs the Federal Direct Subsidized Loans generated a 65 cent-on-the-dollar increase on college tuition, while Pell Grants generated a 50 cent-on-the-dollar increase on college tuition. The Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans had little to no effect on the price.' The Inflation Reduction Act, gives a $7,500 taxpayer subsidized tax credit for electric vehicle purchases. Or course, by 'coincidence', Ford and GM raised their EV prices ahead of time, by $8,500. The more money the federal government pours into an industry, the higher their prices increase. |

Its not helping the rich, its only for undergrad loans, and has an income cap of 150k. Also, remember such loans are also used for trade and vocational schools and even police/public safety academies, so it helps plenty of blue-collar people, its not just traditional college like you are inferring. College being free is not bizarre and dangerous, as we discussed before in the 1970s and earlier many Community Colleges were completely free (except books and supplies), and Community Colleges are also (often) where people get trade certifications, so if you want more welders and mechanics, etc.... this is excellent. I think Community Colleges should be 100% free. And, I think there is a valid argument for State Universities being free. |
