They may think so about our sycophant politicians, but nobody thinks that from the field of battle. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

It might sound a tad harsh the way I wrote it, but what I meant was that when you fight from mainly drones you look like you are afraid to take a loss. Yes, put boots on the ground and people start to give respect. But since Kosovo there is a large part of the public who thinks that wars can be won casualty-free from the air. Other nations look at that and lose respect. One thing Bin Ladden had right was send a few body bags back filled and the American public is ready to quit. The USA will never again win a drawn out war. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

CBO: Nearly 1 in 6 Young Men in U.S. Jobless or Incarcerated Meanwhile I read this past weekend that in WV, there are 19 painkiller prescriptions written per year for every person! Even if you assume that WV has a higher need due to an older population that did more than their share of manual work, that is just, well, scary. Same article said good industrial jobs go begging because so few people can pass the drug screening. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

From link : "“Rather, it is largely due to the same policy changes, such as changes in sentencing rules, that have made nationwide incarceration rates about four times as high as they were in 1980. Because roughly 90 percent of all inmates are held in state prisons or local jails, most of the policy changes that have led to increased incarceration have been at the state and local levels,” the CBO explained, noting that all racial and ethnic groups have seen their incarceration rates increase." Part of the incarceration rate is because of "for profit" prisons. Thank you Clintons. Even if convicts want to work, many employers won't hire them. A feedback loop. The article is sad. On WV having so many pain scripts, that is odd. Many scripts are for dental work and are just for a few, but chronic sufferers get thirty day scripts. WV is famous for being a hillbilly bunch of degenerates, they must have claimed the title from Florida who was known for their pill mills. Nineteen scripts per person doesn't make sense if they are all residents. Here in AZ, they do a computer search of a 4 state area to see if patients are filling scripts in other states. And UA testing. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

Don't just blame the privatized prisons. America has a criminal-industrial complex that is booming, right down to DUIs and photo-traffic enforcement. Convicts wanting to work is tricky. So many jobs where you interact with people. Way back there was an article of a power company hired outside meter readers. One raped a woman. Big lawsuit. But multiply that out. In my job I deal with so much customer information a dishonest person could have a field day. Another guy I heard of got a very stupid felony charge and complained his only career path was bartender. Nothing wrong with bartender, but point is it will destroy your life.
Meth problem there is so bad some drugstores even near the border will not sell pills with psuedo in them at all. Even at a month of pills if you are chronic, 19 makes no sense, right. And 19 is the average. Could be pill shoppers from nearby, but if so then some doctors are doing a booming biz. Very sad article. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

All those Texas counties that built private prisons by floating bonds now find they have shuttered useless prisons yet still have to pay off the bonds. No income stream to pay them off with but general revenues. >>>>>> but if so then some doctors are doing a booming biz. Well, what do think a retired doctor with health problems of his own is going to do? Live on Social Security and Medicaid? He's got only ONE asset he can put to use to bring in any income: his signature on an Rx pad. He ain't got nothing going for him until some dude shows up and waves five grand in cash under his nose for signing a stack of scripts in blank. If the cops do show up,,, heck, he will probably get better care if the Judge does sentence an 80 year old man to prison. |

Wouldn't surprise me if he is child molester. Putin overdoes the "I'm manly, studly" bit. World leaders don't really need to engage in flagrant demonstrations of machismo.
