I heard the kid was on land when he
got snatched and dragged into the
water.

There are posted signs warning guests against swimming in the lake.
Any mention of allligators? What about wading? Average reader would think... no lifeguards so its a routine and meaningless warning since the kid is at the shoreline. If there is vegetation at or overhanging the edge of the water, it hides gators. No Swimming--Gators is a different sign than 'no swimming' no smoking or no spitting. Everything else at Disney has long lines, anything without long lines is an attractive nuisance.

I heard the kid was splashing in the water on the beach
Disney rarely settles
Its Florida and nature. Its also very rare
Hopefully it stays rare
but
It wouldn't surprise me if this alligator was fed by tourists in the past
On my recent Kayaking trip, I spoke to fellow kayakers
Hillsborough river is a popular float downstream for tourists, outfitter rents canoes, picks up tourists and canoes downriver
They were complaining of tourists feeding gators
Some gators are now approaching boats at the dock which is not good

That is why a Washington State court upheld severe penalties for feeding the birds at a dockside restaurant as 'animal cruelty'. The taming of a wild animal such as by eliminating or reducing its natural fear of humans was held to be animal cruelty just as chaining and beating a dog or cock fighting or other more obvious acts of cruelty.

Quite a while ago a nude Norwegian was out hiking and came across a bird that had fallen through the ice, he rescued it and performed mouth to er, uh... mouth to beak recusitation. Perfectly legal but throwing a piece of bread to it would not be. Nature's ways are strange and it is we who must adhere to them as much as possible. Hikers who remove their backpacks and run from bears simply train the bears to attack the next backpack wearers they encounter.

ON EDIT:

NEWSFLASH: It was a Muslim alligator.

My understanding was that the child and the father were both wading in the water.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent.

This doesn't surprise me at all, especially
on FB. People are so lazy and eager to
make people like them, they don't read
60% of what they share. They just see the
headline and share it with 800 'friends'
Another indication of a society in decline.

Well, you seem to be able to comment on news stories without (apparently) reading them, so yeah, that seems reasonable, and makes you part of the problem, Bob.

That's how I view Brit politics, am I wrong?

As opposed to the lead canes that were used on the floor of the US Senate?
