I'll just point out stuff from one graphic, where Democrats and Republicans polled agreed strongly: 90% are in favor of requiring background checks. That's made up of 92% democrats, 89% republicans, and 93% of gun households. No idea what people had in mind for those background checks beyond a criminal history check, if anything, but there is support for taking away guns from a group of people if they are identified as such: 81% favor TAKING guns from at-risk people. At risk people? Someone whose wife was caught in bed with another man? Is the husband an 'at risk individual'? Someone just fired from the Post Office. "At risk"? Someone who had a loved one murdered in a drive by. "At risk"? All above would have a higher propensity for gun violence than those not affected. Are they "at risk" enough to confiscate their legally obtained guns? Or just not sell them any new ones? Do you need some sort of formal psychiatric exam to determine "at risk ness"? What if the psychiatrist feels you are 40% more likely to use a gun violently? (I think all males would be considered at risk then!). |

There's a whole bunch of people who could probably be classified at risk if you look at the anyone with a number of calls to police to go to their house over a disturbance involving a particular person. I don't know if that holds up, but I have little confidence in anyone who needs repeated visits from the cops for disturbance calls. If your family is always in fights needing the police to break up, that's at risk to me. Making lists of people you want to kill; not a good sign. Making repeated threats at other people, even if you've never done anything yet. Sounds dangerous to me. Anyone who needs meds to not be violent, but won't take them.
