Talking about eating people's pets.

I first worked on Kodiak in '91, at that time dogs were still disappearing off from their leashes at night. It was a mystery for awhile as there are so many bears wandering through town.

Evidence became clearer as to what was happening. Owner's would go out and find nothing but the leashes left? As has happened for eons, owners of the cannery's had imported cheap labor, in this case Filipino's. They couldn't believe their good fortune to find all this meat tied up in peoples yards.

I found it interesting also that they preferred the dogs before they had received their vaccinations.

I tried to befriend all my barnyard animals, until their last day. Usually giving them names like ham, or turkey. It makes it easier to catch them if they escape. Pigs by the time they are ready for slaughter, I was always glad to put them down. I dislike doing the rabbits, funny enough the insides of a rabbit smell worse than then insides of a pig. They are one that was difficult for me to eat the same day, the smell hangs in the nostrils for a day and I found it difficult to swallow with the scent fresh in my nose.

Just don't unleash a cat where the hamster is playing.

I'd trust a dog not to kill or eat a hamster. I wouldn't trust a cat not to.
