Will Arnett is one of those actors who seems to get repeatedly rehired no matter how often his sitcoms fail.

I dare you to watch the pilot of Flaked.
It's not bad, it's not good, it's nothing.
45 year old men acting like their 25,
and actually living for free in bungalows
owned by one of their mothers. None
of them has a car, they ride bikes and
skateboards around Venice, CA. That's
right, one of the middle aged guys rides
a skateboard everywhere. And all they
talk about or seem concerned about, is
getting laid.

My god, that was awfully tedious. I guess they are trying to raise a laugh about exactly that sort of 45 year old man who does nothing, and tries to shag 25 year old girls. Could be a rich vein of humour, but not when they are the prime antagonist in the show. If it was meant to be funny. I'm not sure what it was. I won't be watching episode 2.

Also watched Cuckoo. Doubt I'll manage more than one more episode of that. Very average british sitcom with Andy Samberg as the hippy outsider turning everyones lives upside down. I like the actors, the show not so much.

I'm afraid I have to do a 180. I watched
the 2nd ep and got hooked. It's really
very good. The writing and acting are
top notch. It's a serious show yet has
a lot of subtle humor. It has a deep
noir vein going for it, and in ep 6, a
real plot twist that you'll never see
coming. I hope there's a season 2,
season one is very impressive. Never
seen Will Arnett play a mostly serious
character before, and he wrote it too?
Talented guy.

Here's the last line from a long review.

"Bottom line: If you like a good story and don’t mind it being uncomfortable, you’ll like “Flaked.” There are laughs and cringes. It’s part comedy and part drama. And I don’t get the feeling the people who made the show were concerned about which category it fell into. I’m already waiting for Season 2."

And there will be a season 2, next March.

The Ranch. A comedy starring a really compelling
cast. Sam Elliott, Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson,
and Debra Winger. Are you fricking kidding me?
It's getting pretty interesting reviews. There's some
heavy hitting talent here. These are talented actors,
and they make the material look better than
it is sometimes. I'll watch Sam Elliott in anything,
love his voice. I've never seen Kutcher in anything
I didn't like. And it's nice to see him paired with
his 70's Show sidekick, Masterson. As brothers
this time.

'But I’d say the oddest thing about The Ranch, which was created by Two and a Half Men writers Jim Patterson and Don Reo, is simply how compellingly watchable it is, in all its messy, macho, undercooked Real Americanness. It’s unlike anything else on television, even though so many of its forms are re-purposed from TV shows from 20, 30, or more years ago. It deserves credit, at the very least, for doing something different and strange—even if that something is giving us a show whose characters, for the most part, reject difference and strangeness."

Personally, I think they should have raised it to $14 or they can accept the current price of $8 but now it applies to only one screen at a time. Netflix is ultimately going to get their greatest revenue bump when people start viewing a Netflix subscription as an individual thing. While a couple can opt to watch Netflix together or take turns, the reality is that most TV watching is now a solo experience compared to a generation ago.

We became a multi TV house in the late
60's when my dad got one for his den.
Never again did he watch it with the
rest of us. He was a big reader, didn't
watch TV much anyway.

Way back there were only 3 things to really watch and often 1-2 were weak compared to the others. Now other than news and sports how much does the average person watch live?
