Started watching Glee on nflix.

And just like that, all of my bad days have been put into perspective ;)

I've read it's the guest stars that kept the
show going. Gwyneth Paltrow, Brittany
Spears, John Stamos, Carol Burnett, Kate
Hudson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Neal Patrick
Harris, and many others. Kristin Chenoweth
was in one I saw and she never disappoints.
What a doll.

Watching Paltrow on some Glee episodes made me realize where they used to get the TV star vs movie star ideal. I thought she really stood out on some of the performances.

You know, there used to be more of line between TV performers and those who didn't need TV and often didn't do much on TV except interviews. Singing movie stars did do TV, but not big time actors, unless it was a short cameo on a popular show, or small comedy bit.

Judy Garland and Dean Martin had shows, but they were singers as well.

I thought it would really suck, but it doesn't.
It's quite entertaining some of the time. It's
a musical about the musical dept of a school.
They won't be able to keep the quality up,
but I think they do thru 3 seasons.

In today's world, other than Tom Cruise and Robert DeNiro I am hard pressed to think of an actor who has never acted on TV (or done sketch comedy like SNL). Even Julia Roberts did a TV movie and some guest appearances on episodic TV when she was very young.

I made it to episode 8 and Glee has jumped
the shark for me. What was entertaining and
new is now predictable and boring. And dumb.
Dumb storylines, dumb dialog, things happen
in this HS that would get you arrested in the
real world. The music is sounding more and
more canned and over produced, so much so
that I usually FF it. Fah, enough is enough.

I think you gave up faster than most people. It was very popular for a few years. They had very high hopes for SMASH, a GLEE for adults, but it only lasted 32 episodes.

The second season story line is just amazing. It was like watching a good short novel play out.

The story just became too absurd. The wife
pretending to be pregnant, the girl who really
was pregnant and blaming the boy who never
even had sex with her, and convincing him
it was a hot tub accident. The coach marrying
the woman who won't let him touch her, kiss
her, live with her, or tell anyone they're married.
The constant throwing of slushies in the faces
of unpopular kids. The cheerleader coach of some
kind of real life Cruella DeVille, evil to the core.
Throw in a bunch of canned lip sync dance
numbers and it was just a nonsense overload.

I liked the pilot because it was clever and new.
But they just kept piling on it, until it got old
and stale. It's called not enough good writing
talent.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Smash? Yeah, I wanted to see more of that but sadly it ended.

But it had a definite ending. Most series cancelled so quickly just leave you hanging.

What I'd like to see is Hit List ;)
