What a strange and troubling thread.

First of all he is wrong about the priesthood and the prevalence of homosexuals in Holy Orders. It might be a case of his vantage point is a little skewed. Most importantly I think he is wrong about the Church hating anyone who is homosexual. I don't see how the Church marginalizes, excludes, or stigmatizes anyone with a same-sex attraction.

I have to say in 8 years of Catholic schooling and who knows how many Masses I heard little if anything about gays one way or the other. The guy in question seems to have a beef that he had to follow his vow of chastity so to say he had a same-sex attraction gives him some PC cover.

Again, that's not it at all. Lots of
priests have secret Gay relationships
and it works just fine. His beef is
how Gays, not just Gay priests, are
treated by the Church.

It does not "work just fine." Said priests are breaking one of their primary vows. If a guy wants to have gay relationships then he needs another line of work. If the gays do not like the way the church "treats them" then they need to either stop being gay (does the church still offer conversion therapy?) or else convert to a religion more suited to their choice of lifestyle.

The guy is simply a crybaby upset the church does not change to suit him. He is no different than if someone wanted adultery to be OK.

When you read about reasons priests
leave the business, one of the top
reasons is their discomfort with the
almost obvious Gay relationships
within the priesthood. Even the new
pope has said the Church has an
ongoing 'Gay problem' in the
priesthood.

So your suggestion is to allow even more gay activity? I don't get it?

I'm 100% pro Gay. There is all kinds
of evidence Gays are born that way,
trying to repress what comes naturally
never works well. Gays should be
welcome in the priesthood, as should
Gay relationships.

The priesthood requires celibacy. So again, if you want to have a gay relationship you need to find a new line of work.

Maybe that's what makes them rewarding though?

I'm not sure if I should read that to mean you don't see how the church responds to those who engage in homosexual activity? Or do you mean only those that may have had a homosexual thought?

Do I not read between the lines as you intend?

So, is that God's will, or the corporations?

On paper that's true. In reality, Gay
relationships among priests goes
back a thousand years. There were
even Gay popes. The worst was
Julius III, who created a huge scandal.
As a Cardinal, he was having an affair
with a 15 year old boy. When he became
Pope, the made his lover a Cardinal
and they shared the same bedroom and
bed.

There are many many stories about Gay
popes, straight popes who had affairs,
and even bi-sexual popes. Nothing is
new under the sun.
