The GOP can't stay stupid forever. Did you notice two Hispanics were near the lead during the primaries? They'd have had a better chance of wooing Latinos to their side. This can still happen once the Trump nightmare ends for the Republicans.

It is adapt or die as a party. As of today, Latinos are the largest minority group in the USA, and it will be not to long before they surpass 100 million people. As the Instituto Cervantes has determined, there are now more Spanish speakers in the USA than Spain, Colombia or Argentina.By 2060, 29% of the United States is projected to be Hispanic.

Census Projection 2014->2060 (population in thousands)
White Non-Latino 198,103 -> 181,930
Latino 55,410 -> 119,044
Black or African American 42,039 ->59,693
Asian 17,083 -> 38,965

Parties have died before. they'll die in the future, too. It's just that we've gone about 140 years with the two current parties, give or take.

No idea what it took to form the GOP from the Whig party. These days forming a new party, with the reach of the GOP or the Democratic party, would be very, very hard, bordering on the impossible.

But they can't keep telling the largest minority group to essentially fuck off and expect to win the presidency again.

Ultimately, yes, but you can do that for quite a long time. Mississippi has the largest AA population by percentage of any state in the nation. They voted straight Democrat all but two times from the civil war to 1960.

Quote: The Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Pub.L. 88–352, 78 Stat. 241, enacted July 2, 1964)

is a landmark piece of civil rights and US labor law legislation in the United States that outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. It ended unequal application of voter registration requirements and racial segregation in schools, at the workplace and by facilities that served the general public (known as "public accommodations").

By party and region
Note: "Southern", as used in this section, refers to members of Congress from the eleven states that made up the Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. "Northern" refers to members from the other 39 states, regardless of the geographic location of those states.[23]

The original House version:

Southern Democrats: 8–87 (7–93%)
Southern Republicans: 0–10 (0–100%)
Northern Democrats: 145–9 (94–6%)
Northern Republicans: 138–24 (85–15%)
The Senate version:

Southern Democrats: 1–20 (5–95%) (only Ralph Yarborough of Texas voted in favor)
Southern Republicans: 0–1 (0–100%) (John Tower of Texas)
Northern Democrats: 45–1 (98–2%) (only Robert Byrd of West Virginia voted against)
Northern Republicans: 27–5 (84–16%)

Although the voting record above shows that opposition to the law was more regionally based than partisan, opposition by the 1964 GOP candidate. Barry Goldwater, meant that the overwhelming percentage of black vote went Democratic. It has largely remained that way for 50 years.

Since 1960 Mississippi has only voted for the Democratic candidate one time, in 1976, when Jimmy Carter was elected.

The following minority percentages are unable to move the following two states which voted for the Republican candidate for the last 9 elections (and are expected to go for 10 in a row).

Mississippi
37.6% Black or African American alone, percent, July 1, 2015, (V2015)
57.0% White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent, July 1, 2015, (V2015)

Texas
38.8% Hispanic or Latino, percent, July 1, 2015, (V2015)
43.0% White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent, July 1, 2015, (V2015)

California
38.8% Hispanic or Latino, percent, July 1, 2015, (V2015)
38.0% White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent, July 1, 2015, (V2015)

White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent, July 1, 2015, is less than 50% in only 4 states + D.C.(Hawaii, California, New Mexico and Texas) although Nevada is very close.

Betfair has odds with a 'pointspread'. You can get Trump plus 99.5 electoral votes and still get slightly better than even money! Without the bonus electoral votes you can get Trump at around 6.3 to 1. Unless an undefensible wikileak comes out, or a clear and disqualifying health problem, her path to the presidency is without roadblocks. I think Kaine would beat Trump now if Hillary cannot go forward for health reasons.
Trump's Supreme Court Roe v. Wade comments likely galvanized support from his base, but at the same time did the same for his opposition, which is a much larger segment of the voting population.

I think it's time for charitable people in the US to set up a kickstarer to get Trump a nice dustbin to put his political career in.

One for the GOP would be a nice gesture as well. They may need it soon.

And when it stops working, you're in big trouble because you also lose your base when you're forced to change.

IMO, much of the feelings on immigration are anti-Latino in nature. But when you go full on that way, you not only lose Latino votes, you lose plenty of other votes from people of other ethnicities who find your prejudice disgusting.
