Dalex64 Member since: Mar 8, 2014 Threads: 3 Posts: 3687 | This is, I believe, part of the federal wiretapping law, regarding how to get one https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/2518 briefly, an investigative or law enforcement officer makes a request to a federal judge, and a federal judge either approves or rejects the request. The POTUS can't "order" a wiretap. Now I don't suppose there is anything legally preventing the president from asking the FBI to request a wiretap, but it still goes before a federal judge who will examine probable cause and whether or not other investigative means have been tried and failed, or would be too difficult or too dangerous. A wiretap being ordered does not mean that any evidence of wrongdoing will be found, or that there was any previous evidence of wrongdoing, just that someone thinks there might be. So, for the president to order a wiretap, it would require the collusion of at least a federal judge. There should be a record of the order, otherwise it wouldn't be carried out (without more collusion and conspiracy among many more people, who would then be executing a wiretap without an order), who approved it, and who requested it. SOOPOO Member since: Feb 19, 2014 Threads: 22 Posts: 4177 | The title of this thread is "The Trump implosion thread". As the left leaning forum members keep pointing out weaknesses, oddities, inanities, possible illegalities with our Prez, I would surmise that the Prez would consider his first month and a half a rousing success. As would likely every voter who pulled the Trump lever. And a not zero number of Democrats. I would say his presidency is anything but imploding. As usual, most Dems don't like the policies and people he is putting forth, but he is in general keeping to the campaign ideals he espoused throughout the campaign. The only thing imploding are the craniums of far lefties who just cannot accept that we have DJT instead of HRC. |

Clearly you haven't heard of "Trumpgrets." (Google it) There are tons of Trump voters who regret their decision. And I suspect many more will once he takes away their healthcare, Medicare, etc. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25011 | It was amazing how little the MSM had to say about WireTapGate today, once they realized it was all about them. Story after story about wiretaps in the NYT, WSJ, WaPo, all of them, for months. Now that Trump is calling them on it, they're all confused. All they want to talk about now is the repelling, er, repealing, O-Care. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

It's literally all they talked about today. Do you really think your constant spin is fooling anyone here or changing any minds? Just trying to figure out why you're so determined to flat out lie all the time... “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25011 | Kellyanne kinda gave it away today when she was asked what evidence the president made the tweets on. She said the president has access to a heck of a lot more information than the press does. He can't give out info he gets in security briefings, but he can get the congress to investigate and release the info themselves. Which he did, he ordered investigations. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

They send Kellyanne on TV when all the other Trumpsters are too embarrassed to defend Donald. That's how you know Donald screwed up bigly. No one wants to defend this lie except her. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

He got that info from Fox and Friends. The facts? 113 of those 122 were released by Bush. 9 were released by Obama. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2017/03/07/youll-never-guess-who-tweeted-something-false-that-he-saw-on-tv/ "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts."
