Well, this just came out.

Headlines: Trump 'likely obstructed justice' in Comey firing, could be impeached, Brookings Institution says

Report:

https://www.brookings.edu/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/presidential-obstruction-of-justice-the-case-of-donald-j-trump-final.pdf

About Brookings Institute: Left-Center bias (one step to the left of 'least biased'), VERY HIGH factual reporting.

Impeachment is a political process, not a legal one. In other words:

You can have iron-clad proof that the Orange Twit did something unarguably impeachable, say a video of him offering Putin classified info in exchange for $1 billion (treason and bribery), and it still would depend on how popular Trump is with the GOP base.

But I see a possible opening.

We must begin by asking: how far will trump support Bannon's attempt to unseat GOP Senators via primary challenges?

It's a tiny opening. Even if all those Senators would be in favor of impeaching Trump to repay the favor, first the House must pass a bill of impeachment. That might be hard to do.

reconcile this statement with deregulation and limiting government oversight

Quote:
In a series of tweets, the president added, “electric and all infrastructure was disaster before hurricanes.” He blamed Puerto Rico for its looming financial crisis and “a total lack of accountability.”

Trump could easily do better, if only he could do better.

When Exxon were the "smartest guys in the room", someone decided to deregulate the power industry. Then the debacle in rolling brown outs and parabolic price increases in Calif. took place. Deregulation and privatizing the power industry is not going to bring down peoples power bills, quite the opposite.

Back in the 80's there was talk of selling the dams on the Columbia River to private owners, instead of the Bureau or whoever has title of ownership now?

I tried to tell people that they had already paid for the building of those dams already with their tax payments and if it is decided to sell the dams to private owners, the people will be allowed to pay for the dams again. Those that want to buy utility's and infrastructure aren't planning on lowering the cost to the people, they want to buy the utility's and roads as a for profit concern. "be careful of what you wish for".

I loosely follow the windmill projects in PR, that helped bankrupt the utility's in PR that were a nice going operation for the muni. I have looked a little to see if the windmills are even standing, I read something like 85% of the com towers came down.

Trump throws a fit. Anyone want to dig up the words posted here about other politicians throwing fits?

There was that guy in Germany in the 30s and 40s famous for throwing fits. Offhand, I can't think of others.

PART 1:

This has been around, it seems like longer, but only a day.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/12/politics/trump-stock-market-national-debt/index.html

Headline: Donald Trump doesn't seem to understand the stock market. Or the national debt.

Quote: Trump
The country, we took it over in 20 trillion you know the last eight years they borrowed more than it did in the whole history of our country. So they borrowed more than $10 trillion. Right? And yet we picked up $5.2 trillion just in the stock market. Possibly picked up the whole thing in terms of the first nine months. In terms of value. So you can say in one sense, we are really increasing values and may be in a sense, we are reducing debt. We are very honored by it and very, very happy by what's happening in Wall Street.

Quote: CNN
What Trump is suggesting here is that because of the gains in the stock market -- which have absolutely happened -- the national debt is being reduced.
That's, um, not how this works.

PART 2:

Meanwhile, his strategy of "letting obamacare fail" continues, with him taking actions designed to cause obamacare to fail.

His actions clearly indicate that he is a failed negotiator and deal-maker - within his own party.

PART 3:

He also backtracked from whatever agreement in principle he came up with, with "Chuck" and "Nancy" showing once more that he will tell the people he is with exactly what they want to hear, with no intentions of actually following through.

Part 4:

Meanwhile, more 25th amendment buzz is going around. A lot if wishful thinking.

Bannon seems to think Trump has only a 30% chance of making it to the end of his term.

When telling Trump that he thinks the 25th ammendment is probably the biggest risk to his presidency, Trump said "What's that?"

It is no longer possible to safely ignore the leaked cries for help coming from within the administration. They reveal a president raging against enemies, obsessed by slights, deeply uninformed and incurious, unable to focus, and subject to destructive whims. A main task of the chief of staff seems to be to shield him from dinner guests and telephone calls that might set him off on a foolish or dangerous tangent. Much of the White House senior staff seems bound, not by loyalty to the president, but by a duty to protect the nation from the president. Trump, in turn, is reported to have said: "I hate everyone in the White House."
