I've always thought that Monopoly pieces should be premised upon symbols of wealth, so just about anything except the car or battleship could go, really, as I really don't see anything else as a symbol of wealth. The battleship makes sense because you'd have to be pretty loaded to have your own personal battleship, and that would be ultra-sweet, but then, how does a battleship travel from street to street in Atlantic City? I've looked it up on Google Maps, and there are no convenient waterways by which a ship could travel to and, "Land on," each of these streets. The dog and the hat really don't seem like wealth symbols at all. I guess it could be an expensive dog, like a showdog or something like that. I don't really see how an iron is a wealth symbol, unless someone else is doing the ironing...same for the wheelbarrow, unless you're the plantation owner, but are there really that many farms in or around Atlantic City? I suppose you could own a landscaping company, but it would have to be a wildly successful landscaping company in order to buy the majority of the wealthy areas in Atlantic City. That leaves the shoe, perhaps that depends on what kind of shoes they are. Here are my proposed Monopoly pieces: Car: 2013 Aston Martin Vanquish Helicopter Diamond Ring Museum Gavel (This one's a bit more subtle, kind of indicating one has bought the judiciary) Contract (On a platform) Dollar Symbol Bar O' Gold "War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen..let us give them all they want." Frankly, I would have hoped the new piece would reflect the casino aspect of the town. Perhaps a slot machine. After all, there IS a Monopoly themed machine.... Ignorance is bliss and knowledge is power. But having only some facts can get you into trouble! |
