E. D. Hirsch, Jr. age 86 wrote a famous book in 1987 called Cultural Literacy when he told a story about his father using a Shakespeare Quote in a business letter. He argued that since everyone knew the reference his father could pack a lot of emotion and explanation into a few words. The example he used was "There is a tide..." Now you say "Lady Gaga- meat dress" |

Not so much I want them to win, I want to play the moneyline. The President is a fink. |

reno Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 58 Posts: 1384 | Verizon has demanded that Netflix stop displaying error messages to Verizon's customers experiencing slow internet connections. (Netflix's error messages placed the blame on Verizon.) In response, Netflix has released the statistics to prove that Verizon trails behind the rest of the telecom industry's efforts to invest in networks robust enough to accomodate increasing traffic. I have no idea if Netflix's allegations against Verizon are true. (I'm skeptical that any ISP is more mediocre than my nemesis Comcast, but I digress.) If Verizon really is the slowest, is it just because they're stingy and cheap? Or is Verizon deliberately trying to sabotage the Netflix user experience to either: A) force Netflix to cough up more usage fees or B) encourage Netflix customers to watch cable TV instead of Netflix? |

I just did a speed test and was right at 30 mbps, higher than the Comcast average. Test your speed here: http://www.speedtest.net/ If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

5 down, 2.2 up. Worth every extra second to live in the boondocks =) Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |

5? Two cups and a string are faster than that.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I've always been slow to adapt to technology, so it seems fast to me. Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |

Roughly 1986, I had a colleague call up NASA's Cray computer on Friday with a 56K modem (the kind that used to put the handset into a cradle). He didn't hang up the phone by accident before he left on Friday afternoon, and it tied up the Cray all weekend. Huge huge bill. |
