"But I am not Nathan. Not Nathan. Not Nathan. Not Nathan. "

Do you know Nathan in person?

Speaking of whom, she's been quiet recently--here or other sites.

I miss Nathan like I miss the jig.

Ride Captain Ride -- Blues Image
Poncho & Lefty -- Not sure who the original artist is, but I think Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, or Emmylou Harris
Coal Miner's Daughter -- Lorette Lynn
Coat of Many Colors -- Dolly Parton
Golden Ring -- Tammy Wynette

Songs that tell a story:

"Cat's in the Cradle"---Harry Chaplin

"Stan"---Eminem

"Jolene"---Dolly Parton

"A Boy Named Sue"---Johnny Cash

"Father of Mine"----Everclear

"Ships"----Barry Manilow

"Pappa Was a Rollin Stone"---The Temptations

"The Last Time I Saw Richard"---Joni Mitchell

"Piano Man"----Billy Joel

"Space Oddity"----David Bowie

Songs that make you feel like you're there:

"Sailing"---Christopher Cross

"Down by the Seaside"---Led Zeppelin

"Downtown"---Petula Clark

"Sunset Grill"---Don Henley

"Come Away with Me"---Norah Jones

I don't know that I agree that Piano Man is telling a story. Billy Joel paints a very vivid picture of the bar atmosphere, and makes me feel like I am in that bar, having a good time with my other drunk accquaintances.

I only know what she looks like from the Youtube videos she posted of herself.

I think its a great story and a great song. I see it like a musical version of Cheers, the story of the Piano Man and the other employees and regulars at the bar. The lines about John the bartender (which frequently get cut out when played on the radio) were life changing for me.

I may as well post this here.

BlackjackPro is banned as being a suspected sock of Nathan.

Yet Nathan is still here. We can have
socks and not get banned?
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

That's the strange thing, Nathan didn't need a sock here because she's not banned. Nevertheless, I'll allow KarenNathan to remain at DT.

Poncho & Lefty -- Not sure who the original artist is, but I think Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, or Emmylou Harris

John Townes Van Zandt (March 7, 1944 – January 1, 1997), wrote Pancho and Lefty in 1972. Emmylou did a cover in 1977, In 1983, Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson made it a number one hit.

Townes Van Zandt was a serious addict who suffered from bipolar disorder and died young from health problems stemming from years of substance abuse.
