Bob, first of all thank you for sharing your conception of God in a clear way.
We have almost opposite conceptions of God.
God for me is a person who loves me and whom I love. Who invites me to love everyone. God encourages me to become a virtuous man through human effort and patient perservence. God is there personally to forgive me when I make mistakes and constantly brings me hope. God teaches me that this world is not all there is and that there are eternal consequences of how we live our precious lives on Earth. God is personal; a friend, a brother, a savior, a Holy Spirit, a Father to me.

Just for some context on these conversations, what denomination of Christianity are you?

Because that's what you were taught
that god is. I wasn't taught god was
anything, I was taught nothing about
the concept of god. We are what we
were taught, this is how we look at
reality. Lots of god for you, none for
me. Why do I fell I'm the lucky one
here, and you have this giant millstone
you drag everywhere..

Unfortunately I wasn't really taught all that well about God in my youth, maybe that's why I drifted from my faith for awhile. It is your atheism that is based on misconceptions and poor understanding of who God is. The god you think exists I would heartily reject as well. I came to know the personal love of Jesus Christ not from a textbook or a teacher.

For context in the conversation I am a Catholic.

You mean I have my understanding of
god and you have yours and I'm
wrong because I don't have yours
And I'm wrong to all other god believers
because I don't have their understanding.

There is no one 'understanding' of
god, there are as many as people
want to make up. You simply
decided yours is the the correct
one and that's that for you. Case
closed. .

I just refuse to play the silly god
game, it's such a waste of time.
It's so destructive and non
productive. Look at Islam. That
part of the world was thriving
until Islam came along and Allah
put a stop to it. God religions are
just a way to control people, all
under the guise of 'love'. Read
the Bible and the Koran, bursting
with love they are not.

As a Catholic there is an understanding about God, and it is not from what I can tell what you reject. There is such a thing as Truth, we are not all correct about God. I reject your notion of god, just like you do. You pretend to reject my conception of God, but from what I see do not understand it or even have tried to.
The Bible is indeed bursting with love.

A There is such a thing as Truth,

And all the god people think
they have it, just ask them.
They have wars over their
god truth against some other
religions god truth. For me
and many atheists, because
none of your 'truth' can be
proven, you're all wrong and
there is no god. It's so obvious.

Many more wars and death have been caused by atheists claiming their own truths. Truths can be proven and argued, that is why God gave us reason and intelligence. There is objective truth and it is worth pursing, I wish you all the best on your pursuit of truth. Please don't just write off God or accept atheism without any reasons besides your own feelings or desires.

Which shows it's all speculation, truth
has nothing to do with it. Everybody
thinks they have the truth, when nobody
really has it. That's what is so great
about being an atheist, I can see this
clear as day and you cannot. Or will
not, which is closer to reality.

So nobody has the truth? So I am just as correct as you are?
