Hi Ed, what is going on and where are you at? Haven't heard from you in a couple of weeks.

Too much fun
Maybe I'll post some pics
Slow campground wifi
Lots of hiking in Nat and state parks
Zion was a disappointment
Brice blew me away
UTV tour up the Vermillion cliffs. Fantastic. Was in 4 wheel half the time trying to climb the same rocks the tour guide is using. Loads of fun on challenging tough trail.
Antelope canyon in Page AZ is simply breathtaking
Navajo nation closed but I was able to kayak over there
Amazing. Some of the best pics of the trip
Played the lake Powell National golf course yesterday
Extremely challenging.
Loved it. I just go off on front tees if too much wasteland to deal with.
Some tee shots are launch pads with Tee area really high. One shot I was teeing off a cliff. Loved it.

Whole trip on FB. I'll send anybody a link. IM me. The Wiz comented on my Antelope canyon trip

What did you find disappointing about Zion?

Times Square for hikers
Never seen so many in my life
Crowded trails.
Its absurd
You should get a sense of isolation when hiking
Not at Zion
Some trails so tight, sometimes you wait as the person approaches gets through. At Zion, that causes traffic jams. I started at the grotto and did the hikes to the lower, middle and upper emerald pools then hiked to the lodge
Bryce is much more beautiful and not nearly as crowded.

Thanks.

Wife and I will probably tour Utah this summer or next, but we aren't hikers.

Any suggestions for "must see" features which we can drive to and observe?

Go to Bryce.
The easiest and most magnificent hike I have ever taken.
It's more like a stroll then a hike.
Take the shuttle bus all the way to the end at Bryce point.
Walk the rim trail.
It's just about all downhill
The views are magnificent
It's so easy, I kept passing shuttle pickup points walking down the trail

The pics I posted are from lower Antelope canyon in Page Az right by the Utah border.
The only way to get there right now is a kayak then hike, exhausting but worth it as you can see from the pics
When Navajo Nation opens and it should soon
You can purchase a tour and a Navajo guide will drive you in. These are pics from the lower canyon. I hear that the upper canyon is more magnificent.

Best deal I found on renting a UTV, safer, surrounded by a rollbar.Maryvale UT right on the main road displaying UTV's. Cant miss it. 160 for 6 hours. A real bargain. A blast going thru the mountains.

This is the Place heritage park in SLC
Brigham arrived. Looked over the valley. "This is the place"
A really moving memorial to the pioneer spirit of the Mormans and a historic village

Evening news reported it's been a record year for parks. Even with the closures still more people visiting parks this year overall.

Almost got in an accident
Flying down the freeway
Old pickup truck belching some smoke pulls onto the freeway in front of me
I slow down as the pickup is picking up speed
In the back is one of those huge 275 gallon 45inch dimension water container
It was empty
As the truck picked up speed
The huge water container flew off the truck
Nobody approaching so had room to maneuver around it
scary
Never saw that before
Cant believe they did not strap it down
I strap down anything I put in my pickup bed

Had unusual family next to me at the campground
Looked Amish
8 kids. Teen Girls dressed the same. Small Boys dressed the same. Amish style.
Father had an Amish styled beard
Pretty friendly. Started up a conservation. They hiked Zion
All the girls had cell phones and were pretty much staring at them
Pretty big camper
but
They did not drive it
Some old guy dressed normally drove it for them as the father sat shotgun
I am assuming they hired a driver to drive around a couple weeks

Some of the hundreds of Petroglyphs at Art Rock Ranch
