OF COURSE the liberal members of the court have made rulings which support their liberal agenda.

That's how it works: politics, not stare decises / legal precedent, at least for the "important" cases.

They hire sharp law clerks to do the grunt work necessary to make it look like their decisions are well-reasoned but regular observers of the USSC know it's mostly just smoke and mirrors.

Your post perfectly demonstrates what is wrong with the left. It doesn't matter what the law says we will just get our friends in the court to bend the rules. This attitude is in everything the left does, we are right do it our way. The police are actually upholding the law, lets take away their funding that will learn them.

Which is why the left makes any SCOTUS appointment a war to the death. They cannot get their way at the ballot box they put in judges to make up law so they do get it.

Same same with the republicans: how quickly you forget.

That is why a short time ago on this forum that we had members chortling about Trump appointees deciding against the Republican positions. Democrats never let the law get in the way of their beliefs.

ABC poll (certainly NOT a right wing biased one) has 76% of Americans wanting Biden to consider all candidates for SCOTUS vacancy, not just Black women. Even amongst Democrats 54% want him to consider males and non Blacks. Another nail in the coffin come November for the Democrats. And of course, how STUPID of Biden. Had he just picked a Black woman without pre-announcing it, it would have been a celebration. Now she will have an asterisk by her name for the rest of her career.

Reagan should not have said that he was going to nominate a woman and Biden should not have announced his intentions either.

Both picks would still be celebrated as breaking previous barriers.

Now, the story is kind of over as the sex/color is already known and the actual announcement will be less dramatic. It will still be celebrated but it is watered down.

Most people (as reflected in the poll) want the President to pick a great jurist and Democrats want it to be one in line with his general philosophy.

It would have been simple to select a black woman who meets those qualifications—there a lot of qualified ladies. Then simply say you picked the person you thought best for the job.

That's been my point---if he wants a black female on SCOTUS, then just pick one and the fanfare will come on its own. For whatever reason, Biden wants to pander to the Far Left, many of whom act as though they were personally responsible for slavery and must accept that they are intrinsically racist---and he thinks that announcing it in advance somehow does that. Of course, many of these same people are either college-aged idiots or live in mid six figure homes in the suburbs, so it's arguably more convenient for them just to pander with their words rather than sacrificing some of their material wealth to pragmatically improve the life of another person.

Anyway, I think he should favor an Asian if he is going to favor anyone by race, but I don't think he should favor anyone by race. Asians represent 5.9% of our population, there has never been an Asian on the SCOTUS, there seem to be a few Asian Federal judges to choose from and Asians happen to be the best educated group in this country.

It is about getting a few more news cycles in. For the first time since Carter the media is not able to prop up a Democrat POTUS. He has to get his base and the media excited.
