I would hate being famous, such
a waste of time. Famous people
always seem to be famously
unhappy because fame isn't
what they thought it would be.

Quote:
The hedonic treadmill, also known as hedonic adaptation, is the observed tendency of humans to quickly return to a relatively stable level of happiness despite major positive or negative events or life changes.[1] According to this theory, as a person makes more money, expectations and desires rise in tandem, which results in no permanent gain in happiness. Philip Brickman and Donald T. Campbell coined the term in their essay "Hedonic Relativism and Planning the Good Society" (1971).[2] The concept dates back centuries

Robert Burton's 1621 Anatomy of Melancholy:

"A true saying it is, Desire hath no rest, is infinite in itself, endless, and as one calls it, a perpetual rack, or horse-mill.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

It's the lottery winners lament.
They're ecstatic for about a
year and then they're as happy
as before they won, or in many
cases less happy. You're a happy
person naturally or you're not.
Circumstances won't change it.

The attention is like a drug to them. But no matter how famous you are a tolerance to the drug builds up. Even if you are famous there will be places that get used to you being there. Then you are just a regular.
