I had one for ten years: never again.

Too hard to work on for a shade tree mechanic like me.

Parts made of unobtanium and hideously available.

Pretty looking GT but quite unreliable.

A great piece of automotive sculpture, that's it.

Never again.

That is why you should always buy two of them. That way you have spare parts.

I had one for ten years: never again.

Deliberately bought a GT in a dark color as I am not flashy and do not seek the attention of others: just wanted a "cool car" that would be interesting to work on and fun to drive.

I quickly discovered that the car had many issues and was too hard to work on for a shade tree mechanic like me.

Parts made of unobtanium and hideously available.

In disgust I shipped it to a specialist out of state to be sorted out.

Pretty looking GT but quite unreliable; in the end the costs of repair / maintenance equaled the purchase price.

A great piece of automotive sculpture and fun to drive, but not worth the cost, fuss and bother.

I'd look into an Elantra; they have one of the better costs of ownership of many vehicles. Most repairs are relatively easy, except changing taillights is a pain because it requires a very specific allen wrench size to get to them. Maybe a Sonata, if you need something that'll really peel tires.

I'm just joking around. What's your current fast car?

I What's your current fast car?

We bought a new Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition Turbo (wife's car, primarily: will use for extended road trips) which would probably be the quickest (others are '82 Volvo 244 Turbo, '86 Volvo 744 Turbo, '01 Ford F-250 Super Duty 4X4).

I'm about to tear into the Ford to correct a new "clunk:" weird story.

The catalytic covnerter was stolen off it earlier this year; I had it replaced only to discover that someone tried to steal the new one again, but were foiled and only cut a bit of the exhaust pipe.

Strangely enough they took the bolts and internal hardware from one of the front disc brakes!

Got to examine, troubleshoot and repair: the beat goes on.

I read that a thief in the Portland metro area died while trying to steal a cat off a car: the jack slipped and crushed / asphyxiated him.

For now I have no really "fast car."

Been there, done it.

Wish I'd hung on to my '68 Camaro RS and '70 Challenger R/T ...

The regular Sonata has a 180 hp engine, but the new Sonata N-line has a 290 hp engine. The original Sonata sold in the US (1989 model) had 116 hp .

180 is a lot of juice, for my taste.

The impact of Carfax report on resale value is pretty great if there is an accident report. It can kill 10 to 20% of value even if it's fully repaired.

People see "accident" at the top of those reports just aren't willing to pay as much.

That's a bargain at only $3 per horse power. My Miata was $142 per horse power.
