That's a bargain at only $3 per horse power. My Miata was $142 per horse power.

I bought the beetle in 1966. Abused it and blew the motor out of it in 3 months and sold it for $50 sitting on the side of the road immobile.

The first car I bought was an old 69 Caprice for $150. 69 cents per hp. Broken motor mount and rust everywhere. Drove right to the junkyard a year later and they gave me $70 for it.

I bought a '65 Chevy II, straight six, three on the tree, a total stripper from a college buddy; he'd gotten it from a friend of his grandpa who'd ordered the cheapest American built car he could find.

I paid $100.

Car took me around the country twice.

It finally broke down one day (was otherwise reliable as hell) and not knowing how to work on cars at that point in my life I "sold it" to the tow truck driver for $300; alas, his check was NSF.

Turns out they'd just fired him and he didn't want to return the truck, so he "jumped tows" til he found a way out: me.

Anyway, I reported it to the police and learned a bit later that he went on a crime spree in California and Nevada, including robbing a Nevada casino.

The cop told me my car was recovered in Winnemucca or Tonapah after a high speed chase.

My 1990 Mazda Miata had 105hp.

That's nice! That's about my speed, 0-40 by this time tomorrow.

Did they leave the Creedence tapes?

Surprisingly the Miata had sufficient power because it was so light. It was actually a fun car to drive, not fast but fun.

The 1,597 cc (1.6 Liters) B6ZE(RS) engine was developed for the Mazda MX-5/Miata (1989–05) . The engine uses a DOHC 16-valve alloy head with a lightened crankshaft and flywheel to allow a 7,200 rpm redline. An aluminium sump with cooling fins is an unusual feature of this engine. The US version (1990-1993) had a 9.4:1 compression ratio and produced 115 hp at 6,500 rpm, and 100 lbf⋅ft of torque at 5,500 rpm.

The MX-5 has frequently been called a spiritual successor to 1950s and '60s Italian and British roadster sports cars. The Lotus Elan was used as a design benchmark.

Launched at a time when production of small roadsters had almost come to an end, the Alfa Romeo Spider was the only comparable volume model in production at the time of the MX-5's launch.

2021 Mitsubishi Mirage has 78 hp, which AFAIK is the least amount of hp you can purchase in any car in the US at present.

Malcolm Bricklin (still alive and age 82) was the Elon Must of the 1970's. The first thing he did was found Subaru of America based on a 1000 lb 16 hp Japanese kei car which was so small it didn't have to meet any safety standards in the US. It was called a 360 becuse it's engine was 0.360 liters.

In the early 1970s he manufactured "The Bricklin" in Canada.

The Bricklin was produced about 7 years before "The Delorean"

John Delorean was said to be worth ~$0.5 million when he died 16 years ago and Malcolm Bricklin is worth less than $2 million today.
