Desantis pushes for socialism in Florida.
The going rates for property insurance is exploding
I don't see how Florida survives as a free market state.
No doubt DeSantis is going to socialism to save insurance companies

My homeowners insurance went from $3800 to $8200 this year and that was before hurricane Ian.

I'm a fan of using government funds to help bail out people temporarily but not if we're just setting things up to bail them out again in a disaster-prone area if you're not going to require something be done to improve the situation before a next time.

Yikes.

Another reason I’m glad I don’t live in Florida.

There are plenty of reasons to not live in Florida, but one of the reasons I like it is that today is December 20th and it is supposed to be 77 degrees and sunny. This weekend I went for a few hour boat ride and forgot to put sunscreen on, my face got a little toasty. I was hoping to go swimming in my pool on Christmas day but it is going to be way too cold for me (high of 55 on Christmas day).

Agree. That New Orleans is allowed to exist baffles me.

DeSantis war on drag shows. Best comment I've heard is it's too bad DeSantis doesn't have the same appetite to protecting kids from bad people getting guns.

Quote:
The governor's Press Secretary Bryan Griffin announced the investigation on Twitter, alleging the show was "marketed to children."

"The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is aware of multiple complaints about a sexually explicit performance marketed to children held in Fort Lauderdale on December 26th," the statement read.

The performance, A Drag Queen Christmas, stopped in Fort Lauderdale and the James L. Knight Center in Miami as part of a national tour. The performance has adult themes and content — but both South Florida shows were 18+ unless accompanied by a parent, according to the venues' websites.

I thought the illegals had already arrived in Florida, and were then shipped to Massachusetts. If they never set foot in Florida I’ll agree with you Florida tax dollars should not have been spent to move the illegals directly from Texas to Massachusetts. It is still overall better for the country as it hammers home to the ‘sanctuary states’ what a problem even a hundred illegals are. Adam’s wants BILLIONS to help with the few hundred he has now. How much should the governor of Texas be given for the hundreds of thousands that crossed this year?

It's getting worse
How can FL think it's good to go to TX, round up immigrants out of state and send them to MA, another out of state destination
Well it's gonna cost FL millions.
You can't go OUT OF STATE and USE people for political political purposes.
This is a serious lawsuit and one FL will probably lose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TALLAHASSEE — Florida has agreed to pay up to $1 million to two law firms to defend it following Gov. Ron DeSantis’ controversial decision last summer to relocate nearly 50 Venezuelan migrants from Texas to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.

So far, the state has paid nearly $112,000 to the firms Consovoy McCarthy and Campbell Conroy & O’Neil to represent DeSantis and other state officials in a class action lawsuit filed in Boston by attorneys representing the migrants.

This is on top of the nearly $1.6 million paid to Destin, Fla.-based aviation firm Vertol Systems Company, which the state contracted for the migrant flights.

Bottom line if you are a state/city/area that gets the initial inflow of the illegals, you want to offload them somewhere. I think it’s a Dem mayor of El Paso that is hiring the buses now. The mayors of NY, Washington, Chicago freak out when a few hundred arrive neatly in buses. It’s thousands daily at our Southern border. Most have made a total joke of he ‘asylum’ reason for applying. ‘I don’t have a good job so I am seeking asylum’.
I doubt the (dysfunctional) Repub House will be able to actually do anything about it, but at least they will try.

TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Ron DeSantis is aware that hundreds of Cubans and Haitians have been arriving in South Florida by boat in recent weeks, but he is not saying what his administration — one that has embraced hardline immigration policies — plans to do about it.
