I think the SCOTUS case that determined people can refuse a pardon is a good example that it is not safe to play with fire. The dude was pending hanging, refused a pardon because he did not like the conditions that the President issued, and then the President insisted, and actually had to fight receiving the pardon in court. He then "won" the SCOTUS case, and was allowed to refuse the pardon, and received a nonconditional pardon from the next President. (During this time his co-criminal was already hung.) This is pretty ballsy (this is not a pardon for tax evasion, this was basically insisting that he wanted to be hung, he did something like organize mail fraud and murder postal employees.)

Now this guy probably should not have been pardoned in the first place, but that is a different issue (I guess having powerful friends in the early 1800s can help get you out of pretty egregious crimes even if it means two separate Presidents literally begging you to accept their pardon and allowing you to be picky on which pardon you accept....)

Back on topic. Wife watching CNN an hour ago (so I guess I was watching too!) and the story they were harping on was their Presidential poll. Biden had a higher disapproval rating than Trump! Biden would trail HALEY by 6%! Around even with the other recognizable Republican names. They had some Dems who are involved in the Biden campaign and they could only offer mumbo jumbo to try and explain the results. Just blathered on about how if the American people knew how many great things Biden has done and how bad all Republicans are the tide will turn.
The Dems can say ABORTION ABORTION ABORTION over and over……
The Republicans can say ECONOMY INFLATION BORDER MIGRANT INVASION HOMELESS CRISIS CRIME Etc.

Whatever YOU think of the Republican talking points NIKKI HALEY would beat Biden today. With a 6 point lead and the makeup of the electoral college that would be a LANDSLIDE victory.
The fact that he is only EVEN with 96 time indicted narcissistic overweight immature Trump amongst ALL Americans just shows how broken the Democrat platform is.

No argument. The only way it seems the Republicans can re-take the WH is if Trump is disqualified, passes on, or decides to put country ahead of self and decides not to run. (I’m sure a few forum members spit up their coffee).

The Dems need a coherent 2024 strategy and go on offense. "The White House has no comment at this time" isn't working, and left leaning press isn't strong enough to counter the MAGA agenda (whatever that is). Biden won last time, in part, because he was only candidate willing to take on Trump head on. Instead of going high when Trump went low, Biden kicked him in the face. Biden was the only one who realized that Trump was a combination of a Golem and a political barbarian.

To answer your question, a moderator asking questions of a President who cozied up to White Supremacists, and of a President who said there are very fine people on the side of White Supremacists.
