Well, the map indicates one of the best known English counties. Counties are similar to American states. How many Americans can name the county?

Devon. C'mon, pick a harder one :)

Not quite that far back in time. The capital was known as Venta Belgarum, or "Meeting-Place of the Belgae" in Roman times, and after the Romans left became Winchester. But that is the name of the capital, not the county.

I think I'm wrong but is that Penzance? I think Stonehenge is in the highlighted one. I'll look it up later.
[edit]Ooops, this thread has moved on. I was talking about the previous map.

Stonehenge is further East than Devon, on the edge of Salisbury Plain

Rome was never the capital of England. Because England as a country didn't exist in Roman times.

897AD is the first time the use of England as a place, and 927 when it became a united place and could be considered as a country. Before then, the island of Great Britain (or parts of it) was Britannia Province of the Roman empire.

Nareed knows history very well.

Even the word "country" didn't exist in the English language until the last 800 years. The older English word was kingdom.
