Outdoor TV's are waterproof and designed to withstand glare.

Who watches TV outdoors? Most people don't even have an outdoors big enough for a TV anyway.

Sure, I can see some uses, at public places, say, or rich people with pools and large lawns, maybe schools, too. But the average person doesn't even want to watch TV in their lawn.

As for folding screens, no doubt some uses will be found. No doubt, too, when you want to watch one, you want ti to lie flat and be rigid so you can prop it up or hold it easily. I can see ways of doing that. So, for example, your 10" tablet could be as small as a cell phone for carrying around, then expand to 10" for use.

This could be convenient, but as it is tablets are easy enough to carry. Therefore the price would have to be the same or lower in order for such things to catch on.

I have no idea who watches TV outside. I am just saying it's an expensive luxury.

Here is an idea from Beyonce's house.

I've never watched a TV outdoors in my life. On a
porch, but thats not outdoors, Why would you do
that?
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

I think people just want to show that they are rich.
While the idea of sitting in a bathtub seems stupid, but at least doable, why would you want a TV in Sauna?

Why not? A sauna seems like quite a boring place, not to mention dangerous in some cases....

Seriously, With screens palced outdoors in commercial and other venues, waterproof, glare-proof screens make sense. But it's a specialized market, rather like gigantic screens for Football stadia.

BTW on my first trip to Vegas what impressed me most were the escalators out in some street corners. I wondered what happens to them when it rains, and of course it does rain in Vegas sometimes.

Disney is using virtual portholes (with animated characters) to spruce up inside cabins on their ships.

THIS. You've found a use I can understand.

Working in the bowels of a casino for 5 years, I would kill for a window some days. Especially in March/April, when it's finally nice out after 5 months of perpetually grey skies, and you're stuck with no lights and only the glare of 40 monitors... yeah. I'd take one of those fake skylights in a heartbeat.

I remember in my junkie days living in a room without windows. In a haze I one day drew a window on the wall. Just a tree, grass, and a few birds. Sometimes they even moved =p It was sort of interesting realizing how even a "fake window" can improve one's mood.

On the spy ships, the Japanese had technology to bring natural daylight into the interior of the ship via fiber optics. It does wonders for morale.

There was a windows channel in Back to the Future II :)

I don't know. I usually don't look out the window unless there's a reason to see out. Checkign the traffic, say, whether it's raining. And if the sun is out and it's raining, hunting for rainbows. I once caught a double rainbow stratching from horizon to horizon. That's really rare.

Isn't next year the "to the Future" year? We should make a thread and see how much of the tech has actually come to be =D

Whether you actually take it in isn't the point. I've gone months, several months, in fact, without seeing sun light. I don't even mean the shine, but just the light. A wisp of grey early morning as the sun rose before I went to bed, and a wisp of grey as the sun set just as I woke up. All of my waking hours were in complete darkness for months at a time.

It affects you. Deeply.
