Roland was specifically written as a white
man for a reason, read the fricking books.
He is not a character that can be replaced
by any race you like just because it's PC.

I read the first two books, a long time ago. Still, I don't see how his race was germane to the story.

How is Santa being white germane to the
myth? Why is Jesus always a white Jew,
when in his day there were black Jews also.
Why did King have Roland drawn in the book
illustrations as a white guy and say he had
blue eyes and looked like Clint Eastwood if
it wasn't germane to the story.

Rotten Tomatoes gives it 18%, one of the
worst movies of the year. On top of casting
the wrong guy for Roland, it's just a crappy
movie.

It isn't germane that Santa be white. Some Santa decorations are black. When I worked at Social Security we always had somebody dress us as Santa for the office Christmas party to give gifts to the kids. The one black guy in our department would have been perfect. Overweight, around 50 years old, and just very jolly. I always nominated him but the idea always got shot down. To be honest, I'm not sure he would have accepted if asked. Since Santa doesn't really exist, I think the spirit of Santa is no particular race but just a jolly older man who likes kids.



An argument could be made that Jesus did have dark skin.

A very good one could be made that the ancient Egyptians, like Cleopatra, where very dark skinned, migrating from central Africa, due to a drought.

In a sentence : not Cleopatra.

Egyptians were likely brown-skinned, as were many others along North Africa.

Cleopatra, however, was a very direct descendant of Ptolemy I, who was Macedonian. When I say "very direct," you should understand the various Ptolemies who ruled Egypt followed the royal Egyptian custom of inbreeding fiercely, with brothers marrying sisters for several generations.
