There’s a whole generation that has never seen a movie projected from film. They are wowed by the slop that is “digital IMAX” because they haven’t experienced 70mm film or real IMAX.

I haven't seen a movie in a theater in
2 years. They look like giant big screen
TV's now, the contrast is more vibrant
with projected film.

It's why audiophiles search for the old
tube amplifiers. They're so superior to
digital in reproducing sound.

I think "a whole generation" is a slight exaggeration. A generation is often thought of as 25 years.

By December 2000, there were 15 digital cinema screens in the United States and Canada, 11 in Western Europe, 4 in Asia, and 1 in South America.

Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI), was created in March, 2002, and is a joint venture of Disney, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal and Warner Bros published the first version (V1.0) of a system specification for digital cinema in July 2005. Many films today are still shot on film, even though they are seldom shown via film in theaters.

That might be the last one I saw, mid
2017. But it seems like I saw one after
that. What other big movie came
out that summer.

Saw Tomb Raider last night, what a silly
movie. Another 100 pound tiny girl
kicking the butt of everybody. The
Lara Croft movies about 18 years ago
were much better. At least Jolie had
a personality.

The last movie I saw in the theaters was SAW

Too many people checking text messages or talking on their cell phone to deal with - society has become too casual

I routinely deal with people stopping at the top of an escalator to check or send a text message -- I assume all these texts are all "medical emergencies" or a solution to a world peace so I have to let them slide

Just watched Dressed To Kill
I think movies in the late 70's/early 80's moved at a snail's pace
I started watching this last night and got bored then figured I would give it a chance and watched the rest this morning
Can never get that time back

It was a huge hit, the premise
has been copied so many times
that the orig is impossible to watch.

I loved that the close up body shots of Angie Dickinson in the shower were of like a 25 year old's body (a nice one at that) -- no way was that Ms. Dickinson's body at that time of her life
