Talked into a recession?

No, trump's tweets and "trade wars are easy to win" policies are sending us into recession.

I suppose his tweets count as talking us into a recession.

I must say I cannot remember such a strong economy trying to be talked down into a recession in my lifetime. I guess calling Trump a white supremacist did not work so try something else......

True, the dumb libs can talk themselves into believing anything... but economic growth (or lack thereof) is a bit more objective because it can be measured. Or is it all FAKE NEWS?

Quote: CNBC
The rate on the benchmark 30-year Treasury bond sank to an all-time low on Wednesday while the U.S. yield curve inverted even further as fixed-income traders grew more confident in forecasts of tepid inflation and slower economic growth.

The 30-year bond yield dropped to as low as 1.907% early Wednesday morning, breaking its prior all-time low of 1.916% clinched earlier in August. The 30-year rate later moved off those lows to trade at 1.933%, still below yields on U.S. debt of far shorter duration such as 3-month and 1-month bills.

The yield curve inversion, meanwhile, continued to worsen on Wednesday. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note slumped further below that of the 2-year note — at 1.464% and 1.502%, respectively — after closing inverted for the second day in a row on Tuesday. Yields fall as prices rise.

Bond traders consider a 10-year rate below the 2-year yield a notable recession signal, marking an unusual phenomenon as bondholders receive better compensation in the short term.

I would be very surprised if 50% of the stuff sold at Walmart is from China.

Does 50% sound too high or too low?

High. If you are going by SKU count not volume the grocery section alone will make 50% hard.

About a month ago the media started trying to talk up a recession. Record low unemployment and all great but they started talking it up. If I did not know any better I would say they had a meeting on the next "Get Trump" play.

Yup, they can’t blame Obama or Hillary, so if there is a recession next year it’s going to be the fault of..... the media.

The whole thing is ridiculous. You
can't talk a recession into being
any more than you can talk your
way out of one.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

I completely agree.

If Bill Maher and Rachel Maddow insist that a recession will start next Tuesday, then Wall Street bond traders must follow their marching orders and do as told? Nonsense.

Wait, am I the only one here who shops at Walmart?

Groceries are a separate category. But manufactured goods-- clothing, shoes, toys, housewares, kitchen wares, bedding, electronics. Most of that stuff at Walmart is from China.
